Busy day today. Mod day with @Silverspool , generator delivery service, and moonlighting as a wrecker.

Also went for a walk around our neighborhood looking for Olaf, then huddled together and watched Frozen.

Not the easiest way to enjoy company, but time together away from work is fantastic.

lol it raised the temp in the house 10 degrees. I went back home this evening to turn the burners off and then shut the water off at the street, hopefully that helps the pipes from busting.

Running the gas like that is how you fall into a sleep you never wake up from. People die like that every year....

I wasn’t at home while they were on. Just had them on low with pots on top of them.

but also what’s the difference between that and the old school gas space heaters?

mine was built 1940, I have all the connections to run those but don’t have one.

I’m staying with a friend currently until I have power again.

Stove top is off for anyone concerned and I wasn’t in the house for long periods of time while it was on.

I thought you were making a joke about dripping the faucets by running the gas lines

oh no lol, my faucets were dripping steadily but i was still worried when I came home yesterday morning and my sink area was frozen and the house was sitting at 32 degrees inside. I turned the stove on for awhile to warm the kitchen up to thaw things out a bit.

So a water main supplying our area is frozen/partially frozen, and the pressure into the house is down. Have a very low flow coming out of the taps.
So now I've got two Rotopax, two 5 gallon cans, a Waterport, several Nalgenes, a couple of Jetboils and some camp buckets/basins filled with water just in case, plus bottled water in the garage fridge.
And She Who Must Be Obeyed is just about hooked on Mountain House now.

Pro tip: Boil water and put it in the Nalgene bottles, they can handle it. Use them to keep you warm in bed, they last for hours. I tested this on a camp out last year and it works really well.

I'm going to have to try some of that. We just recently got a 7-11 in town so I need to go check their coffee.
