We have big ones at work. Got Ford 351’s in them and run 3 phase into the station. Everything runs just like when we’re on the grid and if you didn’t hear the generator running you wouldn’t even know you were on it. Has a 7 second delay when the power goes out before it starts itself and throws the power over to it. When we get power back it does a 20 min cool down before shutting off.

 

When I drink alcohol, people call me an alcoholic.

When I drink Fanta, nobody calls me fantastic.

I know one thing. You don’t want to be near that transfer switch at work when I flips on or off of gen power. Thing will scare the hell out of you it’s so loud in the electric room.

 

I need the 4 cylinder version of that!

 

Generac is the way to go. Researched it for building our house. You can get much better deals than Lowe’s if you search around. Have an electrician do the switch and needed wiring. We found some local dealers that had better pricing and deals than big box. Plus you get to support local business.

We didn’t end up installing on our last house because we spent WAY more building than we expected, but we will put one on our next place.

 

Mornin' folks. Lots of folks here saying they are buying a whole house genny. Because the power was out yesterday for 2 hours. Might be hard to find 1 if everyone is buying them.

 

Good to know. I have a old friend that owns Bullard Electrical and gonna reach out to him for the switch and install. I can do the slab and building for the generator. Then have some boys rock it. Need to figure out how to keep generator warm during the winter for easy starts.
