Sometimes, I wish I'd gotten my learner's permit sooner than I did; I would have ended up with a 2007-2008 model and not had to worry about the damn airbags! Ditto for the bucket seat conversion; I found a set of SR5 buckets a couple years back for $350 (with side airbags). I was all set to buy them, but I did some research and found out that other people with 2009-newer RCs who'd done this swap had issues connecting the bucket seat airbags to the truck, which resulted in the airbag light perpetually being on. If there's one thing my OCD will not allow, it's a chronic warning light on my gauge cluster!

This is one thing that really annoys me; The TPMS/low pressure warning light (specifically simplistic systems that consist only of a warning light)!

    :annoyed:

In Pennsylvania, you automatically fail both the emissions and safety inspections if your CEL is on; I was also informed that a constantly illuminated parking brake warning light will cause a vehicle to fail, but I don't know for sure...?

Anyway, an illuminated TPMS light will not cause a vehicle to fail PA State Inspection, and as such quite a few people I know have such lights that are perpetually aglow. I have this thing about warning lights; Basically, I have OCD and it unnerves me having to stare at ANY warning light while I'm driving! I've had to replace one TPMS sensor as a result of it going bad, and I had to replace another when an asshole tire jockey at BJ's Tire center snapped it as a result of removing the tire from the rim incorrectly.

My dad's 2018 Yukon, my boss's 2015 Escalade, and my company's brand new 2020 Pacificas all have a fancy system that not only tells you which tire has the issue, but also the exact tire pressure in each tire! This system has thoroughly spoiled me, and I've come to view my truck's simplistic and downright archaic system as more of a hindrance than a help! My mom's 2013 Murano has the same simplistic system that just consists of a rudimentary warning light...

    :annoyed:

Speaking of the police, I kinda sorta made friends with the officer who pulled me over for rolling a stop sign last October; I subsequently ran into him again the parking lot of Wawa while on a snack run during a power outage. We got to chatting, and, and before he went back on patrol the conversation ended with him saying "If you need anything, gimme a call"...

I'm hoping that this applies to arranging a ride-along once COVID is under control! A police ride-along is something I've been wanting to do for a very long time!

My truck also tells you the individual pressures too, much better than a dummy light.

Saw this on the lot at Fred Beans that same Sunday; Would be the holy grail if it didn’t have almost 270K miles!

But still, a 2WD truck that’s nearly 20 years old and has almost 300K miles, and they almost six grand for it!

Is it just me, or are dealerships lowering their standards with regards to what the put on their used lots? This GMC is actually in halfway decent shape, for the age and mileage, but some of you may remember that last month I came across a ‘97 Tacoma at Thompson Toyota for five grand; This truck was from a California and rust-free, but it had over 184K miles and also had some pretty significant body damage. It used be that bargain lot vehicles at major dealers were in halfway decent shape and generally had less than 100K miles, but this no longer seems to be the case...

Is this because of the COVID-induces demand for used cars?

Seen it and pretty sure I posted pics of my truck there; I clicked on it expecting a link to a specific post regarding a lifted 5-lug...

I also have noticed high prices on older Toyota trucks that are thrashed too.

That's been the case for years, but what I'm saying is that dealers in affluent areas (like Doylestown, for example) are really lowering their standards (more so than usual)...

When my cousin traded her 2013 Honda CRV for a new 2017 RAV4, the dealer sent it to the wholesale auction because it had like 130K miles on it; It was also a base model Honda CRV and it needed a bunch of maintenance done. My dad's 2013 Honda Pilot Touring was put on the lot with just under 100K on the clock, but it was in a bit better condition than my cousin's and it was still technically under 100K.

One thing I see a lot of at Thompson Toyota in Doylestown are older Corollas with well over 100K miles; Yes, they are in good condition, but they are way overpriced and the dealer actually offers in-house financing on them! A couple years ago, I saw a BMW 5-series with nearly 200K miles for sale at Thompson, with the option to finance at like $96 a week!

I have one to replace on mine, waiting a little bit to get it done though. Remember we have the base model, though neither of my wife's Rav4s had the exact pressure reading come to think

It's that yes plus in general people are keeping cars longer/higher miles. I follow a used dealer on youtube and he's always talking about this. Plus this time of year they're thinking people want a cheap plow truck

The '04 GMC had a locking rear diff, but it was a 2WD; Also, I've seen 1500/half-ton trucks being used for plowing, but I've been told that 2500 and 3500 trucks are the best for this job...

True but if you're looking on the cheap it could work for some..I don't think you'd want to do parking lots without 4x4 though

If I needed a truck, I’d buy that one and put a lower mileage engine in it when the original died; That truck’s body was immaculate!

Yep, clean body and frame makes it much easier, a JY engine with low miles would be an easy swap.
