How do I wire the light bar button?

I purchased and installed a light bar along with this wiring harness:

The light bar button has the wire configuration as shown in the image below.

After snipping off the power button, the wiring harness has three wires -- black, red, and yellow.

How do I hook up the black, red and yellow wiring harness wires to the green, black, and 2 red wires from the light bar button?

Suggest you go through a relay, as your light bar button instructions hints - Red 1.

 

The wiring harness has a relay, but which wire is it -- red or yellow (I'm assuming it's not the black wire)?

 

The “button“ should activate the contact coil on the relay. This will close the relay contacts. Allowing the lights to draw its power from the relay.

 

He cut the "button" off.

 

That green wire seems like it would be useful.

 

After looking at images and closeups on the Amazon links, i BELIEVE:

Green 1 should go to your Red wire
Red 1 should go to yellow wire


I believe these two just control the light up function of the rocker switch.

Red 2 should go to keyed power
Black connects to ground.

 

Let me see if I got this right:

BUTTON HARNESS
Black to Black
Red 1 to Yellow
Green to Red

Red 2 on button -- I can eliminate because I don't want it to light up with the dash lights.

Is this correct?

 

The back is not needed at all, as it is the ground for the light in the switch.

The below is all you need as the switch is simply connecting the Yellow and Red wires from the Harness. They could technically be Red 1 to Red and Green to Yellow, it wouldn't matter. BUT, I'd suggest keeping it as the pictures/instructions show.

Red 1 to Yellow
Green to Red

Which is exactly how he wanted it errr... didn't want it? He did NOT want it to light up, lol.

Out of curiosity, what light bar did you get? I won’t use it often, but I was thinking about getting one for my hood scoop and one for my grill, but don’t want to spend an arm and a leg.

Thanks! I’m guessing you mounted it somewhere other than your grill? I’m thinking about getting one of the hidden ones for my lower grill but everything I see says ~32” for that.

 

The light bar is mounted on my after market grille.
