It may not be a full locker. But it will lock both wheels together as I have experienced while off road. Granted in the extremely slow stuff I did have to drag the brakes or tap them to get it to transfer power, it still worked well for me. It did seem to lock both wheels in those situations as the tire in the air was still rotating at the same speed the tire with traction had. In the snow it really doesn't make a huge difference since its usually so slick (in my area) that both wheels are going to spin with any type of limited slip.

I know different strokes for different folks. But the price made a huge factor for me. Plus, being 6-8hrs from anything worth off-roading for more than 20 min makes it not as high on my priority list as a full locker thats $1000+.

Now to the subject of this thread, I would love to get one of these setups (standard or LT) at some point but thats probably a couple years down the line. Hopefully they are still building them at that point!!! Gotta get more armor like sliders and higher clearance bumpers before that.

Tested this out today. Worked great, all the way to work at highway speeds. Never kicked back on and best of all none of that ABS slamming when braking. Might become my new routine. I actually slid less on snow/ice than with all the nannies on.

Honestly my biggest hang up is the skids. I know there is a front skid but I will need the mid skid and transfer case skid tweaked a bit. My trip in Moab would of came to an expensive and quick end without them. My fabrication skills are limited when it comes to working with steel. I follow you on the other points though.

I would be Cautious to jump into thinking it will be fine. With my trac off, it’s fine until the computer sees data from the yaw sensor under the seat. I had no issues with trac off until I was in sweeping turns or the truck started to see body roll, then it tries to take over and causes a very frightening experience depending on where it hits. I’ve almost hit oncoming cars, a guard rail, or even into a ditch because the system took back over. Ultimately pulling abs fuse is my go to now.

Yeah, the ABS is more hurt than help. With it on the previous day it tried to throw me into a pole.

Sounds just like me. Call the shop and talk with Harry. Listen very closely to what Harry says. Then *DO* what Harry says. I went to him 3/4 of the way into my build and he totally helped me get on the right track without going overboard. I'm an old guy with a dog. Same kind of wheeling as you. This is one of those buy once/cry once situations that I promise you won't regret. Hopefully you are in So Cal and can have him do your install as well.

I've been putting off calling the shop, might as well suck it up and call.

My fuses have been pulled out for 2-3 years haha. I forever have the abs and trac lights lit up on my dash. Too lazy to pull the cluster to remove the bulbs

I like my kill switch. It also “arms” my elocker to guard against accidental engagement when someone else drives the truck.

Old Tacoma had a broken wheel speed sensor and fixed everything. New one has both fuses pulled. Lots of dash lights. No ABS, no nanny taco anything.

Does the speedometer still work with the ABS system turned all the way off like that?

I'm getting ready to put a full-floater in mine (using the trail gear D60 hubs and a ford 9" diff), and remove all the ABS bullshit at the same time; but I' not sure how the rest of the instruments will deal will no rear wheel speed sensors.

I put a full float d60 in my last 2nd gen taco. I switched it to pull speed from the tcase worm gear with the RST kit. Tranny shifted fine. Should be in my build thread. Abs was nonexistent at that point.

I take back what I said as my rear differential is toast now and I have a giant paper weight until I can buy a new axle

I just want to give a huge shoutout to James @THETRUCKSHOP for all the help with this thing. I had some existing ECU issues and James got it handled.

For any of you guys in SoCal the Truck Shop is the place to go for all your service and maintenance. We have known James for over 20yrs and he has always taken great care of us. Just wanted to pass the word along to you guys that are looking for a dialed in, reputable shop.
