Supply is .09ish, delivery is the rest. I had 830 kwh of use last month and it cost me $200.

Same here, though we don't use it often I have an 80 or 100 gallon Jacuzzi. Tankless ain't gonna cut it.

I feel like you've been plotting the perfect time to post that

Being a single guy that is almost never home on the weekends, you guys would shit if you saw my power bill. It's like $90 on a high month. But what I don't understand is how my delivery can cost more than the power? I'm usually at about $40 for the power use and $50 for the delivery. Why the hell is the delivery that high? I understand they need to maintain the lines and it's a big deal, but after it's up, it's up. If I use less power I should pay less for delivery, but nope!

I needed a new water heater about a year ago and we went with tankless option. Got a Navien unit that has been great for us and has definitely saved us a chunk of change in the gas bill. My wife takes baths almost everyday and it has worked great. The only time it is not great is if we have 2 showers running at the same time but we had the same issue with 40 gallon tank too. So it saved us a ton of space and does a great job with the forced hot water, 2 bathrooms, dishwasher and washing machine. Tankless definitely has come a long way IMHO.

I'm just hoping I can limp my water heater along until I can recover a bit. My house has been mean to me this year. :pout:

Of course the bottom line is the rate they are charging you for delivery but it also helps to understand how they charge you. You will get charged more for the more peak demand that you use. It will cost you less to use the oven, dryer and electric heater separately rather than all at the same time as your peak demand for electricity will be less using each of those big items at a different time than all at once. It will also help if you can use big energy use items at other times when even lights or an active house is in effect. And they chart that demand over the entire month so you have to be quite diligent about your peak usage for the entire month in order to reduce the peak demand for your electrical bill.

I work for a recreation department and we used to run into this all the time when people wanted to use the lights at a field. They would not understand why they were going to get charged $400 for electricity for a month for only 3 hours use or get charged $550 if they used it for 10 nights of 3 hour use. Peak usage would be the same for the month regardless of the amount of electricity used and regardless if they were using the lights for a one hour period or for 100 hours.

I always wondered how they determine this. My meter is just a typical dial meter and the bill has the old and new reading.

Don’t forget to check with your utility provider to see if there are rebates or other incentives to offset the cost of upgrading your water heater. I think i got either $400 or $500 back when I went w the heat exchange hot water heater

Dishwasher delay to run at 2 am is my usual. Not that I think it really matters much but whatever.

often times a domestic setup isn’t set up for that they just charge a flat rate. A large scale commercial setup is setup for knowing draw and times for that sort of thing.

CB update. Tuned. Ish. SWR 2.5 on 19 which isn’t great. But I will likely be doing 500000x more rx than tx right now anyway.

I am going to order a new antenna cable and wiring stuff to wire direct to battery. I have some plans and will want to do them before the road trip (March 17th) but I need to switch my main focus onto the sleeping platform this weekend.

my plan for those HF toolboxes might be dashed. I know I have a weird bump in the floor for the front seat mounts but I can’t tell if I have a damn floor vent or not. I thought I looked under there and didn’t but all the pictures I’m finding are showing them so I might just have that damn thing. If I do then I’ll have to likely set up just a wooden platform for support instead. Regardless this weekend as long as the weather plays nice I’ll be yanking my seats out and beginning that venture.

Makes sense. At least one of our larger buildings at work has a phone line on the electric meter that the electric company dials into to read it. I expect that gives them more information. I think that building has a 1600 amp service.
