1st Gen Lunchtable Thread - General Discussion

When I welded my trailer 2 summers ago I think it was about a $10 bump over the month. I am only using a Lincoln 110 flux core.

 

Yeah I would likely only get a Mig 120/240 that I would only run as 120 due to our old house and no 240 hookup built in. I'm sure the duty cycle would keep any actual welding done per hour pretty limited

 

Check your neighbors has for 240 if they have it then 240 is free! But really don't do that.

Do you have any opinions on Stanton lenses? Pretty sure I’ve asked you before.

True but some of the bigger appliances that get used a lot are designed to be more energy efficient, IDK if welders are exactly designed that way

 

Nah, with a 110v welder it'll fly under the radar. It'll be like running a space heater in short bursts

 

link is broken, but Stanton I can't say I've ever heard of before...it has been a long time since I've been in the market for camera/lenses though since I just use what I have at work.

When I google Stanton lenses all I see are glasses lenses


Just saw your link says Tamron in it...Tamron is pretty low end as far as lens brands go. If I were going to get a lens that wasn't Canon/Nikon/Zeiss etc, I would probably go with Sigma

With lenses you really do get what you pay for

Chiming in on the 1st gen thread. My fist taco was a 2002 sr5 2wd that had 330,000 original miles when I sold it as the 2nd owner. Thing ran great, just stunk a little of oil after a long trip. Although I have a 3rd gen now, I still miss the simplicity of the 1st gens.

 

@JKO1998 the link works now, as a rule of thumb you should avoid lenses with really long zoom length. You lose quality with that. 70mm - 300m is pretty long

Fixed focal length lenses are always the sharpest lenses you can get because they don't zoom, the more zoom you have in a lens the less quality you get generally speaking.

I would rather have a 28 - 70 and a 70 - 200 instead of one lense that covers the whole range. Switching lenses is a pain yea but that's always been part of the trade off

Those super long zoom lenses that Tamron and the like offer are cheap for that reason, you won't really find many high end lens brands offering ones like that. Or if they do, they'll be less $ as well

 

That makes sense, I just want a little bit more than 210mm. Not really much offered for mirrorless that I’ve found so far.

 

yeah I don't know much about what's offered for mirrorless cameras, I only use DSLRs. In fact the dslrs I use both at home and at work would probably be considered outdated by today's standards but they still work just fine for what I need.

 

For sure, what I have works 90% of the time, but neither bring in much light and sometimes 210 isn’t quite enough.

But both are super easy to pick around so I guess whatever.

 

My boss wants the photoshoot we do at the poppy fields next month to include drone footage. I don't know how TF to use a drone

Guess it'll be an excuse to use the company account to buy one and learn, hopefully in under a few weeks lol.

Yep. I always shut the sprinklers off for a few days whenever it rains, our landlord called last month when the storm came through to ask me to and was happy as hell when I told him I already do that lol.

 

@Speedytech7 when a person sends a diff off to ZUK for a rebuild do they supply the parts or do you buy it from him?
