How have I never come across Richard Cheese and his lounge singing rock songs before?

That's just one example of many since he's been doing this for 20 years and has entirely too many albums.

depends on what your electrical load for the house is, and what you want to run when the power goes out. Propane fixed in place standby like a generac?

Yes...standby. I want it to run everything as though our power is still on. Fridge, elec furnace, stove, lights...all of it.

I run my house on 7500 watts. But I don’t use the oven. I bet you’re looking at a 15,000 watt job.

If I told you how much I did mine for. It’s not fancy. But it works. It’s not automatic.

    Yeup.

you have to understand it took me a long time to acquire those parts. That generator had 10 hours on it and I bought it for $400. I ran the wiring. Set up the boxes and everything. The electrician came in and took him 15 minutes.

So I just installed a 13kw generac at my moms place. 100amp entrance rated transfer switch, battery and oil heaters, concrete pad, ready to go cost me 4200$. Power goes out, it turns on. Texts you when it needs an oil change. She had propane but that would run most everything including an electric range. A local guy does them for like 7500 installed. My cost was just the parts and me wiring it.

the other way to do it, is buy whatever you want for a generator, I have a predator 6500 from harbor freight, it was 489 and runs like a million bucks. Get a generator inlet, a lockout, and a breaker and do it that way. I’ve had good luck buying from geninterlock.com. They usually offer free shipping if you buy the cord, interlock, and inlet at the same time. It might be tough to get them now where most of the state of Texas is having rolling blackouts, I don’t know if they’re buying generators or not.
