What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Cool mirrors. I want to get some without the BSM. One mod at a time....

I ordered new Upper Control Arms a week or so ago. They were supposed to be here yesterday but they’re stuck at the FedEx hub in Memphis due to the weather. I took the week off from work to get some stuff done including the UCAs and an alignment. That’s not looking promising

I know the feeling, I've got a radiator destroyer (A.K.A. hitch step) coming from California and according to UPS it's - "SEVERE WEATHER DELAY"

 

Why didn't you use the factory RAV4 heated replacements (non BSM) for roughly 1/2 the price. After nearly 4 years I love mine.

 

Not starting anything, but you realize to be green with turbines and such you still need crazy amounts of fossil fuels to make them. Steel requires a large amount of fossil fuels to be produced. Everyone loves green but never think about where it comes from.plus no one adds in the transmission lines required to carry said green energy to the electrical grid. There is more steel needed for that .

 

But less over time.

 

That region just wasn’t prepared for this kind of extreme weather (extreme to them, just another day in the north east). Hopefully it starts warming back up a little this week.

 

Not much... they still need to be repaired/ replaced. Which means fossil fuels to get in and do what needs to be done. Plus they look like shit. We have a few mountains here with them on it and they are hideous.

They were around $90 total for both delivered.

 

I sincerely appreciate the input! This actually looks like a really good option overall - the length is perfect to fit between the fender tubs and the height is perfect to fit under the diamondback cover. I just wish the width (thickness) was closer to 5 or 6 inches instead of 13.5 inches. I only need 5 to 7 gallons for my setup, and I don't want the tank to take up too much of the space inside the bed (my ultimate goal is to build a side-by-side slide out mechanism with my fridge on one side and camping gear on the other side). I may end up needing to buy a custom tank, but they're extremely expensive.

 

Would you have the part number by chance?

 

In the south no one has central heat, houses have pretty much glorified space heaters.
Imagine how much energy it would take to keep your house warm with just 2 electric space heaters and no furnace.
I lived in Texas and our house only had space heaters in the bathrooms other than that if it got cold we had a fireplace to try to heat a 3000 sqft house.

It's the same as when it gets insanely hot in the north, the power grid can't handle having everyone running their AC's nonstop.
Fortunately everywhere other than Texas we can get extra power pumped in from other cities to keep from getting blackouts.

 

I don't think you are starting anything ... And, I have no issue with the point you raise at all.

But, yes, I do realize that it takes steel (and a lot of other things) to make turbines. That has no impact on the need for us to be a leader in next generation energy technology. And, I also think it is not correct to say that everyone loves green but never thinks about where it comes from. I think a lot of people who like green technology think about where it comes from.

As I mentioned, I am an all the above energy option person until we can get to a green energy policy that makes business, consumer and technology sense.

But ... that is a whole other discussion ... and not appropriate for this forum, of course.

What is appropriate for this forum, however, is to wish all of our friends in Texas the best during this trying time. Hope it warms up for y'all. Be safe ... and get to a parking lot and do as many Tacoma doughnuts as you can while it lasts -- with the heater on.

 

Agree ... Just hope it passes soon before more people suffer. What is is looking like? Warming up soon?

Supposed to get up to mid-30's on Friday for a couple hours, then 40's-50's over the weekend. Back into the 60's by next week.

We've been lucky in that we only had the cold line into our kitchen sink freeze (still hot hot water there to wash dishes), and our water never got shut off (one of the local treatment facilities kept losing power) and we didn't lose power. Others in my neighborhood weren't as lucky.

So next weekend it should start to thaw ... that is good. One thing that will be at least positive from this is you should get some good water runoff so that might help your drought and water tables. I have friends in Austin who are in bad shape ... they got hit pretty hard.

We are supposed to get hit with an ice storm here in NY ... but no big deal ... it will be our fourth one this winter ...

Edit: Anyone from the Great White North. Just move along. The summary is lots of snow in places where people are not used to seeing lots of snow. Average winter day in Calgary.
