So basically because teams with hundreds of thousands of dollars can build fast solid axle trucks you want Toyota to have a solid axle Tacoma even though independent front suspension is the way every other vehicle has gone for the commercial market for decades. Yeah sorry but I just don’t see it happening.

I hear you ... my garage now has a 4Runner with the Tacoma. :D

It's a Jeep TJ with the awesome 4.0 liter and has so far been fine. The three issues with a TJ are the original OPDA for 2004-2006 (replaced with aftermarket), the 42RLE transmission (added a Derale remote cooler), and the PCM (ask me in five years).

Show me where I said I want/expect/wish/think Toyota should/will build a new solid axle truck. You missed the :stirthepot: and fell for it hook, line, and sinker.

No, I personally would not. But if they did, it should be some sort of rock crawling variant of the pro. That’s one gripe I have with the pro, it’s really nothing more than a bunch of bolt-ons to an off-road.

I live how old cars/trucks had a unique look back before MPG and wind tunnels were a thing.

Raptor with a V8 is what I’d get.

Solid (front) axle is sweet for rock crawling, nothing else. Sure it can do the high speed stuff, but it will always be less comfortable than a comparable IFS variant. I bought and built a Samurai specifically for that purpose and kept my Taco until it's towing capacity wasn't enough to tow around the samurai and steel deck trailer. I would not purchase any new solid axle vehicle and certainly would not have sold my 3rd Gen Tacoma to do it. In fact, I think the newest solid front axle vehicle I would ever consider at this point would be a TJ. Everything after that has too much computer BS to contend with.

So, to be clear, is the 4 wheeler or the guy on the 4 wheeler doing "the unrealistic"?

Are you saying you would sell your truck if it came with a sold front axle; or are you saying you would sell your truck if Toyota ever made a 2020 Tacoma with a solid front axle... I guess I'm not really sure what your saying...

You really wanted to say what he said verbatim?...

I have zero interest in rock crawling. It just needs to be able to handle running over a curb at Home Depot

I have had solid axle 4x4's all of my life. This is my first IFS. Not selling it at all.
