Extended Warranty worldwide?

Gonna have the truck in the U.K. in about 6 months. Also, have about 5 months left to purchase the extended warranty (which I would no question do if I was going to be in the states). I know they have Toyota dealers in the U.K., but I don't know if they'll work on U.S. models there. I'm mainly concerned about my throw-out bearing having to be replaced, and since I only have 14k on the odometer, I think it'd be a wise investment for the extended warranty. But it'd be a waste of a thousand bucks if I get over there and they won't touch it.

Anyone have any experience or insight they'd like to share? Thanks.

I have the Toyota extended warranty. We travel to Baja a bit and I was told from the start that the extended warranty does NOT cross the border. Fortunately I have not had to find out for myself.

Europe? May be different.

Thanks man, good info. Maybe I'll just call corporate. I don't want to but I think they'd be the only one with a for sure answer.

 

Any new car warranty is void when the vehicle crosses any kind of border. An aftermarket warranty could be very expensive overseas. Use your computer and maybe make some calls.

Where in the UK are you going. Toyota's in England are vastly different than the one's here. They also don't honor US warranties. I was stationed at UK Mildenhall from 2000-2005 and there were only 3 garages' that would work with American warranties; unfortunately that was only on GM, Ford and Chrysler products.

 

Yeah that's where I am going... Well Lakenheath. That's what I was expecting to hear but it's good to hear some first hand experience. Hopefully things have changed but I doubt it. Will the Toyota dealership even work on an American Tacoma? Like if I am having throwing bearing problems and had to buy a new tranny, do you think they'd install it?

 

They will, but it'll cost you twice the price. My recommendation to you is to learn to work on your own car; use the Auto Hobby shop if you can; they even have mechanics there. Keep in mind the Pound to Dollar rate is like 1.7 to 1; you'll pay out your ass to have a mechanic work on your car.
