i had toyota in the springs replace my head gasket last year for about 3000. They originally quoted 3700 but after discussing and questioning the line items, we settled around 3000. I also had them put a new water pump on because they have to take it off anyway. Basically anything they took off, i made them replace with a new one because its no extra labor charge.

basically toyota had the cheapest quote, gave me a daily driver for free and a warranty.

its sucks but it wasn’t a job i felt comfortable doing in my apartment’s parking lot. They used the newer model gasket so it shouldn’t have the same issue again and its not like you can sell a truck with a blown head gasket

Update on these... they are legit rubber and feel like pretty good quality. They are not like the paper material like the OEM splash guards. Should be good replacements and better than OEM... especially for $25

I agree man, had 4 runner with the 4.0 do the same, but in 2008 when it wasn't that cool to be in Colorado the thing cost me $2000 to fix. Just like everything else seems like prices are starting to skyrocket unfortunately.

Awesome, thank you for the reply and info. I may reach out to them and see what they can do. Have you had any other issues come up after the head gasket replacement? They also found a rear main seal leak that will get taken care of while they are at. I caught mine early enough so i think the engine should still be in good order. But still hesitant to drop the cash on a 2005 with 165k.

Awesome, that's what i like to hear! I feel pretty confident after the fix I should be good to go for another 100K at least! Did you also replace the timing chain and tensioner while in there? I've read mixed reviews on replacing it when doing a HG job.

they checked it and said it was all good and in spec. They did send out the heads to get machined. I had them take pics of the inside of the engine so i could see it all for myself and it all looked good. No sludge or anything.

basically i took it as an opportunity to regain confidence in the truck by checking and replacing everything i could during the process.

HG and cracked motor mounts are main issues on 2005-2007. My motor mounts are solid and HG is brand new. Thus, i feel confident about my truck lasting over 350k

Plus, if i sold my truck then people would find out my personality sucks.

Awesome, I appreciate the replies Andrew! Definitely making me feel confident about keeping the truck and dropping the cash on the HG. I had the frame recall done, and everything else regarding the vehicle is in fantastic shape. Hoping i can make to 250k like you! Thanks again, love the build you have going!

if your truck was white, id try to convince you to sell me your tailgate and fender flares then trash it lmao

jk they are solid trucks once you replace the frame, head gasket, motor mounts, rubber components, suspension, and reinforce bed...

tbh ive faced and replaced a ton of issues on these trucks so my truck is finally up to snuff. Next time, ill buy a brand new truck so i wont be wrenching as much

Head gaskets and the rear main seal are not overlapping labor. You could likely save money now doing that later.

Think I'm gonna get these. Stockers are trash. Some of these are 75 to 100. Are you happy with them. Like the 22 dollar price...
