I need your opinions of which truck would be a better deal. A 2002 Silver DBL cab with 127000 miles, V6, TRD, Leather seats, running board, bug shield, bed liner, towing package. Has been pulling a lite boat for years, Very good condition except with a couple a dings on the tail gate. Price $10000.
Or a 2004 White DBL cab, TRD, SR5, V6, 57000 miles in excellent condition. This truck looks like it brand new. Nothing added to the truck, just like it rolled out of production. Price $16700

I can afford either truck but I would rather pay $10000 if the silver one is that much of a better deal.
    Thanks for your input.

What they said. The '04 sounds better, plus you know the '02 pulled a boat, but you don't know it pulled a boat CORRECTLY.

For $16700 you can get a 05 and up, you might want to consider that option.

A shitty snugtop, step bars, wheels, and vent shades... For now.
I just got an 04 dbl v6 trd in black sand pearl that had a topper, roof rack, step bars, vent visors and heated leather with 80K on the clock for $16,600.

the leather is a nice touch and almost impossible to find.

while the newer one has less miles, I wouldn't be scared of a Tacoma with 100K plus...

    which one has better tires?

I bought an 05 trd sport, double cab, 4.0, 6 spd, 4x4, with 60,000 miles over a year ago for 18,000. I think you could find a better deal

To throw a wrench in things...I like the way the '02 looks better (I HATE black plastic, which is why I got a Sport), but I still think the '04 is a better truck.

Unless you just hate the 2nd gen, you might shop it a bit. I bet you could get a 2nd gen for the same or less than what they want for the 2004. You'd get a newer truck, more power, more room and even better gas mileage (V-6 to V-6). Just my .02. Good luck with whatever you end up buying!

I really want a 1st gen Tacoma. I just have always liked the look of those better. Just a personal opinion. It has been my dream truck for a long time.

For Instance, here's one in Pensacola, FL for 14,995 (probably could negotiate it down a bit). There are 7 2nd gens within 100 miles of Tampa ranging from 13,500 to 16,000. If you get the one for 13,500, the 3,200 you saved could pay for a nice little vacation for you and the wife! Win-Win.

Oh, OK. that makes sense. I understand the dream thing. Then I would go with the newer/lower mileage truck if you can swing the $$. You might still be able to find a better deal if you shop a bit out of your area . For some reason the prices down here in central FL are a good bit less than your area. Still might be able to save enough to justify the trip. Good luck!

I would have your mechanic take a very close look at both trucks to see if they are any indications of wear, or maybe some parts that will need to be replaced shortly. But if I had to put my money on it, I would go for the newer vehicle with half the mileage.

Are they both 4x4, $16700 for a Pre runner seems a little high, although it is practically new.
