Y'all are making me wanna go spend the last of my savings on a cheap manual car to learn...

I've literally always wanted to learn to drive a manual and own a manual car/truck too, but never had the opportunity sadly

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
    I got a 4 speed currently.

Do it! They're so fun, I've never owned an automatic, granted I'm 26 so I've had 10 years of experience and only have owned 3 cars

Soon, when I'm just a little bit more comfortable financially, or when I graduate next year for sure. I'm 25, but didn't get my first car till 19 (2012 Accord) and then got my license when I was 21. Finally switched up and got the Taco in January 2020. Next thing I add will be a manual guaranteed

That's because you are! I'm 58 and they just don't know. I love manuals for off roading but if in Atlanta traffic at my age no thanks! They are great if your young and have strong legs for a 2 hour traffic delay! :anonymous:

The first vehicle I ever drove was my cousins 1985 toyota pick up. Out in a big open field. I was really young. I remember him saying he can't tear anything up out here let him go at it. That was my first clutch and the day I fell in love with toyota trucks. I wish I could find a picture of it. I remember it had a two tone blue and white paint job.

I remember learning to drive a stick. My dad was the teacher and has no patience. 15/16 year old me grinding gears, stalling out, and getting screamed at with tears running down my face. Man those were the days, lol
And I still prefer a manual to this day. Strange how that worked out

I had a '65 Beetle that my parents and I restored (so many trips to Nopi off Cobb Parkway), and I couldn't drive stick for shit. Sold it and got an El Camino.

Then one day at Jiffy Lube, I was told to drive a Mustang into the bay. Manual. One of those do or die moments, and it just clicked. Sold the Elky because it was a slushbox, and have been pretty much rowing my own since.

A little of this and a little of that.
The first manual transmission vehicle I drove was a ‘71 GMC C-10 with 3 on the tree! I have owned several manuals, and prefer them. Current Tacoma is a 6 speed.

It’s a life skill, similar to learning how to ride a bicycle and how to swim. My 19 year old daughter can drive my truck.

I was involved in a small accident today. The truck and I are good and so was the other driver. The other person lost their front driver tire and that thing made a bee line straight for my truck. The tire made impact I’m guessing on my rear driver tire or side of my hc bumper. I do not see any damages caused by the tire. However if the tire did make impact with my rear tire, should I be concerned about any potential damage behind my tire? I think no, but wanted to ask to be safe.
the truck drove fine on rest of the drive into work and I did get a report number from the police just in case something comes up and I need to file insurance. thanks for the insight guys.

If you don’t have any new vibrations, you should be good. If it was a heavy wheel/tire it could probably have bent your axle with a hard enough impact.

In other news GA BS crew, I highly prefer this BS page over the new home’s (AZ). Don’t mind the outsider

I started as a car washer at a dealership when I was 19. First 3 cars I had to learn to drive a manual in were a Mini Cooper S 6spd, WV Turbo Beetle 5spd, and then a customers 95 NSX...Talk about a big learning curve. Had a Manual TSX for 3 years and after dealing with ATL traffic I said no thanks! I love the driver feel with a manual but not for this city!

My last car was a manual G35...that thing would move! My wife wouldn't drive it, so I got the truck in automatic. For the first few years, she wouldn't drive it either. I was pissed that I didn't get a manual since they offered it. But she drives the truck now....ever since COVID, she drives it as much as I do!

You guys and your fancy cars. I learned to drive stick on a yellow 1984 Dodge Omni. It eventually had a black hood and passenger quarter panel because I drove into a pole sliding off the road driving to go skiing. At 17, didn't have money to paint it. After that, it was called the Bumble Bee.
