Any chance this is for Jamie? If so, I could send him a set. Not sure I’m excited about selling my TRD ones, but I’m sure I could manage.

    Hey Doc,
Yes it is. The FIC 650cc injectors work but we can't get the higher rpm trims to play nice. Love the power but unfortunately I need to try to get this figured out.
    I'll shoot you an email.
    Thanks

    MR TRD
Sorry, The FIC injectors do not work with the Ucon.

I thought there was a reason I didn't jump on those at the first group buy. One more reason to be ready to get the HPTuners. But unfortunately since the truck does run, there are other things that have larger priority at the moment. Sadly that really does mean buying a tow rig is one of those. Thank you for the info and welcome to the boost thread of awesomeness!

I had bought the FIC 650cc but due to some confusing communication with URD they said if I want I can pay them an hourly rate to tune the FIC injectors. They already have the tables to run there Bosch??? injectors. Gadget said they tried the FICs in the past but had no luck tuning them, he also had the spray pattern analyzed and said it was garbage.
I have not heard any actual reports of people having issues. I'll be going HPtuner this spring. Beyond ready to install the 650cc and my 2.6" pulley. And now that the new gears have flipped the speedometer error in the other direction I want to correct that.

I really do struggle to wrap my head around WHY the FIC 650s "wont work" with the UCON. I'd really love to hear URD/iTronix's reasons for why they wont work. The injectors use nearly the same injector offset data.

Frankly it smells fishy to my. FIC is widely regarded in the industry as a premium product.

Dont waste your time struggling with that thought. We're dealing with a pioneer of 1GR aftermarket parts who's become kinda salty over the years. IMHO, if FIC was ever carried by URD and part of it's line card......Gadget would be singing its praises.

Not knocking Gadget. He's a businessman first and a biased one at that. He's an enthusiast 2nd or 3rd.

Not to get all Marxist, cause I'm not... but how much would we benefit from having another resource in this discussion like URD that has been in the game since 19diggity2?! A little less competition, little more cooperation.
Imagine JustDSM, Matt at OVtune and URD in the same room at the same time. Us bouncing ideas around. The progress would be outstanding. We could put wings on these Tacomas.

Curious, is the DSM in @JustDSM mean Diamond Star Motors?

I was once the proud owner of a 1994 Eagle Talon AWD Turbo, a "DSM." Infected with the boost bug. That was how I started working on cars, cause the thing would break often. Before that I had a 1989 Toyota Camry LE, first car. Sold the Talon to my brother who quickly sent it air born through a ditch while swatting at a fly. Bought a 1986 Toyota pickup with a wooden flat bed, 5spd and 22R. Drove that to Colorado to relocate, traded it in for a 1997 Tacoma, drove that daily for 11 years with a POS WRX Bugeye Wagon with a 2.0l JDM STI swap in there near the end, and moved on to the 2008 Tacoma.
Just wanted to brag on my Toyota history a bit. Seams like many of you have done the 1st Gen-->2nd Gen transition.

As someone who’s dealt with different tuners on the same platform sadly it would just never work. Different tuners have different goals and different mindsets. Not saying one is worse than another but it’s just different ways of doing it

I for one would support that. I know that Mat and I have had some words in the past and I feel bad about that being in the public, but that's that. I have since had positive dealings with Mat and look forward to working with the VFTuner software once they release support for the 2nd Gen trucks. I'm hoping that it proves to be a solid product, and have little doubt it will be a viable player if it has the support and attention the 3rd Gen trucks have been given. I'd also love to chat and work with URD. They have some awesome products that I'd like to see get a little more mainstream use to further push the envelope. They have the time and resources (as well as Mat to a degree) to bring things to market a guy (like me) who works a regular 9-5 just can't. I'd love to get a roundtable type discussion going and bring our platform to the next level.

You'd be correct, the DSM part of my username, is in fact for Diamond Star Motors. I owe a lot to those early 1G DSM's. Can't say they ignited the passion, but they dumped a 55gal drum of gas on the flames ;)

I later dabbled in the Subi scene for a year or two while I got my finances in order and upgraded to an Evo 8 and later a 9.

    My EVO 8:

    My EVO 9:

I actually was one of the first pioneers to have retrofitted a 2G DSM ECU (with DSMLink) into the Evo 8 to have a user tuneable solution before ECUEdit was released. I made 514whp with a GT3076R on racegas and 33psi. Stock internals other than HKS 272's and a slew of other bolt-ons. Was an incredible car.

    I left the "scene" for a while and got into Toyota's. My first was a '88 4Runner 22RE 5spd that I SAS'd with an All-Pro kit
    4Runner.jpg

Then I got a '83 Pickup, and 3RZ swapped it:

    and now my '15:

My best friend was in the evo scene for awhile doing auto cross. Iirc it was a twin turbo evo9. Thing would suck you into the seat so quick; very fun ride.

I wish I would have 3RZ swapped it! I ended up selling it because the 22RE spun a rod bearing. The guy I sold it too, put a 5.3L LS into it.

I recall a time when the Mitsu FTO was a DSM fanboy's wet dream and seeing a Galant VR4 on the street snapped your neck because 3000GT VR4 (GTO) were a dime a dozen.

Stupid question time! Where is is best place to buy a 2.8 pulley? Just the press on style, I'm not looking for a quick change set up.

    Thank you

Not sure how much the URD pulley runs, but I just ordered a 2.8" smooth flow pulley and hub for $90. My understanding was it was less stressful to install than a URD stealth pulley.

Less stressful to remove! Once you figure out that smaller does really equal better. A large portion of everyone here that has done the 2.8 has gone smaller and the 2.8 from URD, while beautiful, is murder to remove.

The only thing stupid about your question is that you appear intent on dealing with pulley replacement but not installing a Quick Change setup. Don't waste your time! Seriously, if you're going through the hassle of replacing your stock pulley, I can't recommend Quick Change Pulley strongly enough. Makes it a snap if you ever decide to go smaller, or return to larger. (Recommend Smoothflow over Pulley Boys - no sad looking logos.)

+1, though the really stressful part is if/when you want to remove a URD pulley.

    +1 to all of this.
