Indeed, just need to check that it’s not underwater or something from a burst pipe first.

Did you see that picture from the apartment in dallas, with the icicles hanging from the ceiling fan? Oof.

Just dropped off the last of my fam back to their nicely restored warm houses. I spotted a lot of structures that were in bad shape this morning though. I saw more than one that was gushing uncontrolled water into the streets. My heart goes out to them.

    :(:(:(

PS. I didnt see one gas station that was open. Anyone get gas? I'm sitting at 1/2 tank right now, I can and probably will stretch that out for a week.

And half live further, yet you're upset they didn't drive into work?

There's one gas station near me that was operating yesterday, but I haven't checked today.

You know, for as big of a crush that you have on me- I'm surprised that you didn't get me anything for Valentine's Day. :(

Yeah man, traffic is SUPER bad out there. And for context- all 5 of us in the office live inside that screenshot.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here. I was on the freeways today too. They are almost clean. There are still splotches of ice here and there. Here is what terrifies me. Most everyone I saw this morning were fucking flying. 70 mph plus and less than one second distance between cars. Its like we all have amnesia and don't remember what happened on I35 less than one week ago. Between the clean freeway and the ice covered side streets, I'll take the side streets at all costs. At least there I can keep 6-10 seconds between myself and the idiot in front of me.

Basically got the same text this morning. Myself, the boss and one other guy in the office today.

The drive wasn't bad, worst part will be getting out of the work parking lot. It's all downhill from the main road.

It's just a weird thing to be upset about.

There's ice and snow on the roads, and you're butthurt that no one else came into the office except you.

    agreed

this week as been super shitty and im metally defeated. My power came back on and i was going to skip work but had some meetings i needed to join. Was a bit hectic trying to get caught up from the last time i was online, Friday.

New topic, who all has to boil water? Im safe from that for now but keep seeing the list of cities/areas expanding

Not yet, here. Don't forget these two less thought about items

    A) disconnect your ice maker in your fridge. When we are over the boil notice, let the ice tray fill completely, throw it out, and let it fill again.

    B) your pets' water bowl needs potable water too.

Power came on this morning after the usual cycles continuing through the night, and has remained on. Water appears to be functional, through still low pressure. Ran into town to get some just in case stuff and also to take some supplies to one of my directs. IH35 and US287 were good, surface roads were hit and miss depending on the city. Only time I had any issues was when I was in 2H and after switching over to 4H had no issues. Did have two instances where the motards behind me were not able to stop and came close to hitting me. One swerved into the next lane over and busted a red, and the other one went sideways and off the road.
@Dirtwolf6 thanks for the coffee suggestion. 7-11 was the first stop this morning, and that coffee is actually way better than I expected. Had to go back by there later and got another cup. Also grabbed a bag of the 7-11 Prime Rib chips, and was surprised by those as well.
Grocery stores are wiped out for the most part. Had to go to 4 stations to find one that had gas to top off my tank.

Rockett's water tower started pissing out the side two days ago. We don't have them, but they are a neighboring system. We still have low pressure because everyone is running their sinks and there has been at least one main ruptured. I'm waiting for us to go on the boil notice, but even if we do I have over 25 gallons potable at this point.
For work pretty much everything that had been scheduled for this week has been shut down. The disaster response side is going strong starting yesterday, and I just got another request for Sunday through Tuesday so I'll have to work on that.
On the good side, I don't have to do a presentation for a bunch of attorneys from across the state tomorrow that I had completely forgotten about with everything else going on.

There's one from Houston that shows a car in a parking structure. A water line directly over the car let go, and at least the rear half of the car is incased in a giant icicle and it looks like there may be several inches of ice on the floor of the garage as well.

Same here. IH35 had the outside lane that was pretty much clear, but the inside lane was at least slush/ice. Most traffic was in the outside lane but there were some that were flying in the passing lane.

Check that you’re actually on map of affected areas.

City of Fort Worth sent out a robocall to everyone on accident.
