I gotcha. That makes sense. Hopefully your dealer can provide more details on how that works with the OEM camera.

I just got off the phone with my local dealership, and will be picking up this kit on Saturday. I will ask a few questions about the sensors and if any calibration is needed. From what he and I discussed, it all seems pretty simple once you start to swap out the grill. Should be plug-n-play for the most part.

The front camera works fine. The non-pro camera is transferred to the pro grille and uses the adapter bracket provided in the kit.

The circumference is about 16cm (or just short of that). That works out to a diameter of about 5cm (50mm). My best guess is that they are just 5100s with very slight tuning differences if any.

Still trying to figure out why this kit is not recommended for dclb?

do the dclb’s have the extra leaf and would that not work with the leaf spacer?

I see in the kit there are also spacers for adjusting the parking brake cable, could this be the problem?

I know the kit can be fitted to a lb as someone posted some photos of a dealer installed kit on a lb.

Yes you do, unless you are ok with preloading the shock. Not sure if it's the case with these but with 5100s for instance, you decrease the travel length of the shocks when you use stock coils instead of new longer coils so if you encounter potholes or rough terrain you have less play and are therefore more likely to bottom out the shocks, which can damage or break them.

In other words, shocks alone cannot lift the truck without sacrificing some functionality or durability from the shocks. Coils lift a truck, shocks do not.

In this set up, people certainly must be preloading these shocks using the spring clips since it reuses stock coils.

I'm almost certain it comes down to something minor like the examples you posed. You can obviously lift a dclb just fine.

Just wanted to ask this, but with this being a TRD/Toyota "kit", wouldn't they sell the longer coils if it was actually needed? I'm ordering this kit, and am just curious/want to make sure I don't get myself in a pickle

Alignment yes, the install guide has manual corrections as well, see below. You also need the TSS radar sensor and forward (windshield) camera calibrated. Though the front terrain camera will be moved higher, the install guide lacks the calibration process, probably because it is quite complicated and expensive at dealer rates. You can adjust the alignments of all the cameras in the special service menu of the head unit.

What I was thinking about. I can also ask a few questions when I pick it up. I'm good with doing all the mechanical install/calibration. I might have to get them to calibrate all the sensors. That might be over my head, but will wait to see what it looks like when I get it all apart and back together.

I can't say for 100% certain in case there's something I don't understand because it's possible these shocks are designed to work with stock length coils in a manner that prevents the damage I described. It's worth getting to the bottom of. I will say that having stock length coils on preloaded shocks is not ideal nor the way the shocks were intended to be used but many many people here use that exact setup with success. If you're mainly on road, its unlikely you'd bottom out the shocks unless you hit bad potholes.

As a broad statement to everyone considering this, from the perspective of someone who researched lifts for tacomas a lot before deciding on aftermarket options, the main draw of the Toyota lift seems to be the retention of full warranty without the possibility of getting dicked around. However, I actually haven't seen anyone here who installed aftermarket suspension and had warranty claims denied, unless the damage was obviously due to the installation of the suspension.

I didn't even think about looking at the install guide, thank you for that. So I am going to call to see if they will sell just the parts I need from this kit and how much it would be for the install/calibration of the Pro grill. Love this site.

Thanks for sharing your input. Do you have anything I should ask them when I pick it up? I already planned to ask about sensor calibration - I don't think that's something I can do without actually looking at it once I'm there.

I do plan on taking it off-road, but I will not be stunt jumping, mainly forest service roads in the SE, and potential trips westward in back country.

When I talked to them today, they made it sound like you can either buy all the parts, or non at all. However, that may change come April?? (when the kit is "officially" made available). They also repeated several times the kit is non-returnable.

I too was told multiple times that this kit, or any part of it is non-returnable. At least that was consistent with what I was told.

You’d think they would have adapters or different part numbers for the dclb if it was something rectified simply.
