    How does a lift change the angles to the carrier bearing, transfer case/front differential?

    Because the carrier bearing doesn't move and the rear axle and portion of the driveline does

    Splitting hairs here......the Magnusson-Moss act only requires a manufacturer to warranty a product as it was designed/manufactured. Once you lift a truck, you have changed it from the factory condition. In practical terms, the law has been interpreted to put the onus on the manufacturer to prove the modification had a direct correlation to the failed part(s), which can be difficult. Hence the OP getting a "good faith" repair of his transmission.

    Know how I know you didn't read the post I quoted?

    Who said anything about honoring or denying warranty claim? Not I.

    Yes, I suppose that ultimately, Toyota is replacing fewer transmissions during warranty period... as there is nothing for people to screw up. They would not do it if it did not benefit them financially in some way.

    I did though, my apologies if I missed something. What I said remains a true statement about how the driveline geometry is changed if you lift the rear portion of your truck.

    Edit: I gather that you may have been taking issue with him saying that "everything" is effected. He was being too broad.

    Driveline geometry, sure. Angles of "everything attached to the transmission" are the same unless diff drop or carrier drop spacers are installed.

    Yep, I follow you now lol. I'm not a fan of general or broad statements either, it confuses people who don't have as much of an understanding of the functional elements of vehicles.

    An example of an aftermarket lift causing an issue would be ;
    Member takes his Tacoma to an aftermarket shop to get a lift installed but the shop does not fix the drive line working angles of the driveshaft once the new lift is installed .
    Now the universal joint operating angles are greater than 3 degrees and the truck vibrates bad .
    Member with new lift continues to drive his truck with bad vibration
    Vibrations transfer through the transmission into the torque converter during the flex lock up cycle as well as the fully locked cycle of the torque converter clutch .
    Every time the converter locks up or partially locks , the clutch inside the converter absorbs all those drive shaft vibrations creating premature wear of the torque converter locking clutch .
    This is only 1 example of how driveline vibrations can take out a transmission over time .
    Not going to happen immediately , but you can bet its doing damage

    Good they replaced it. Least it isnt a Jatco cvt or Ford dual clutch that is guaranteed to fail.
