A few days ago, the battery in my '09 Tacoma died. I jump started it, and it ran fine. I don't drive it every day, but since it's been quite cold, I've been starting it every day for like the past week. Today, when I went to start it, nothing; click, click, click, click, click. So as I was removing the battery, the alarm activated (horn honking) and stopped once I removed the positive cable. I went and got a new battery, installed it, and nothing. The starter (which I've had no problems with) wouldn't even turn over. All the lights on the dash come on, and when I go to activate the windows or the door lock, the 4-way flashers come on. It seems like this is a security issue but I have no idea how to resolve it. (And I did put the battery on my charger to make sure I didn't get a bad battery; even though it is new.) Thanks for your help.

What are the battery cables and terminals like??

Did you resolve your Starter Problems??

You should have a means to reset your alarm without knowing just what kind you have hard to know.

The battery cables and clamps are in great shape and clean. Since the battery is brand new, the terminals are perfect.

Of, course I should have a means to reset the alarm, I just don't know how to, and the Owner's manual says nothing about it.

When you put the key into the ignition does the red "Security" led go away? There is a super-close proximity sensor near the keyhole to detect if the key is valid, all part of the immobilizer system. That's my wildest guess outside of battery connections which you said are fine.

Curious as to why the key wouldn't be valid. It's the key that came with the truck, which I've had for 3 years.

    Try this.
Lock your doors with the key fob, then Unlock them with the key fob.

Chill man. You’d be surprised with some people’s lack of knowledge with standard vehicle maintenance.

This is funny. And you’re the one who can’t get his truck started.

Hey, guess what guys? I ain't a he. And for guys, you sure do get your feelings hurt easy. I have 2 Tacomas including a brand spanking new 2021, so I'm not that concerned. BTW, genius, it's "you're", not 'your'. ...and don't tell me about how to behave on a forum. I would certainly NEVER use the language you use. All that kind of language does is show you aren't smart enough to make an intelligent statement.

NOT a stupid question, many people do it. There is a post difference in the F and not F batteries.

    Care to tell us how?

Insert your pronoun here. I'm an elf, none needed here.

Your username suggests you have 3 tacomas

You’ve had the 09 truck for three years so it’s probably an alarm previous owner installed that you were unaware of. Look under dash for alarm components and google manufacture or call autozone.
