Got the 2500 and the room to camp in at the Bristol NASCAR race this year. I spent all evening drinking beer and god knows what out of multiple mason jars. Of course I woke up with my head humming a sad toon and rain coming down pretty hard. I was dry, the floor was dry, but but from the slumber of my cot I could see the bulge of water growing on the roof. I managed to get a couple times and push it off but my hangover finally got the best of me and I gave up. Laying there with head still pounding, rain still falling, the entire front corner of the canopy came crashing down on me. The front arm gave out, buckled in the middle from the weight. I had to tear my whole set up down in the rain. Not cool. This was my own fault and I do remember seeing this could happen in a review. The replacement arm cost me $15 and no other part was damaged.
The only other thing I would add as a review would be installing the room. Even though you can do it yourself, which I did twice, you can easily tear the strip that inserts into the awning base, which I did. Even with my elementary grade sewing skills I managed to fix it but I will find a better way to do it by myself or find someone to help.

I am looking at one for a prinsu cabrac i'm about to order, I really don't want any overhang tho but man those 55" and the small arb are so small. Oh well, .i'll likely buy the arb 1250 or cvt 55" until I get some other things more permanent then I'm getting a batwing!

I want to go with the arb 2000 and mount it to the Baja rack cab rack. I run a softopper so I don't think the overhang will look too bad towards the softopper. Thoughts?

Could I please see some photos of your truck from the side since you have both a cap rack and the OEM cab roof rack?

I've a prinsu rack over my shell, 5' bed, and I've been wanting to get the OEM roof rack and wondering how it looks :notsure:

Trying to figure something out for my build and wondering about the length of the metal bracket in the pic.(from red mark to red mark, sorry posting a pic on this forum is a tech as I can get)

I’m looking at getting the 4’ awning and wondering if that metal bracket is actually 4’??

Maybe the 4’ is reference to the size of fabric or overall storage length of the bag or something. Looks like the bag hangs over on both ends slightly.

this is a really great setup. Nice work. Does the glass of your canopy just rest on the aluminum rails of the awning? Or do you restrict the glass from rising some other way?

Going to answer my own question to maybe help others searching this out in the future.

The length of the mounting rail is 4ft. The bag hangs over about 1" on each side.

Has anyone mounted their awning to a prinsu top rack over the tailgate?

I’m wondering if the ARB universal mount will work perpendicular to the rails. I’ve only seen it done parallel.

If the universal mount is an angle bracket I think you could for sure. Might need to drill it out to get the holes to line up with the drop in nuts on the rack.

I have the same plan but found that the Sherpa rack / awning bracket allows for mounting out the back. I’ve ordered everything but waiting on delivery. I ordered the 4’ ARB and it should (fingers crossed) be the perfect size. Will post up some pics when I install

Has anyone tried to mount these directly to the rails in the tailgate then extending the legs to full height so it has an angle going down towards the truck bed? Will the legs allow that angle? I really have no use for a bed rack but want a canopy off the back for some shade. I know this will limit ht closer to the truck.

The ARB canopies I am familiar with would only work that way when extending across the bed and out the other way unless you make some brackets to mount it above the bed sides and facing outward instead of inward. This is because the fabric part and the upright legs are supported by horizontal bars that fold straight out from the awning body, so you couldn't mount it directly on the rails and then pull it out and away from the same side of the truck it's mounted on. If that doesn't make sense, I can post some pictures. I am going to open my RTT and awning this evening to make sure everything is kosher before heading out tomorrow.

Also, I'm not sure they make one shorter that 7' long so it would be longer than the bed.

    thanks so much!
Sorry I left out the important part haha. I was wanting to extend it off the back of the truck like to cover the down tail gate and beyond it. So the awning would be mounted perpendicular to the actual truck bed. Mounting one side to each rail. (Random truck pic I sketched on)
