Something like this shouldn't be too hard to fab up for the roof https://www.rackattack.com/ca/water...oybGdWPYcs3bOnddciLI8BdBfE9Yh6q8aAre_EALw_wcB

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking!!! I didnt know anyone made such a thing, mind you, to be fair I never looked too hard, I have a loooooong list of 'needs' for the truck (but we all know they're really 'wants') before that, and I still like the usefulness of a swingout, I dont have a backup camera, well not yet, the stereo I was eyeballing has ports for front and rear cameras. All this peer pressure, I'll have to start working the corners of the Annapolis Valley to pay for all this

When you're old and broken (I'm 41 lol) and your canoe weighs more than you do you start noticing things like that

@TacoMitch93 is wise beyond his years. I expect that if I knew anything about cool, he'd be a leader in his bracket. Is cool even cool anymore? I'm 46 last I checked. Which might have been a year ago. That reminds me of a story...

I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time

I was actually referring to @Snowman

I haven't met @TacoMitch93 yet but if his username relates to his birthdate I feel like he is going to make me feel really old and at the same time super unaccomplished, since even though his tacoma is two doors and two cylinders short of a full complement it's probably still cooler than mine, and he has owned 100% more Supras than me:bowdown:

    no worries,

so I'm torn between a 2-low kit, and Just doing the FJ T-case swap.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2lo-kit-for-2nd-gens.554456/page-26#post-25174433
looks like the the guy who made a kit for this is doing one last final run.

I like the idea of 2-low due to having to back up my camper. It was a bit of a struggle with the old tires, its going to be even worse with the 33's.

so if I remember correctly, they both cost roughly the same, but the 2-low is plug'n play (PNP) while the FJ swap is more work.

    Pro's of PNP 2-Low.
    15 min install
    easily reversible
keeps 4wd simple for the other drivers in my household *cough* wife *cough*
keeps a high re-sale value ( from what I've witnessed over the last year or so in the previously linked thread )
    Cons of PNP 2-low
Actuators may fail and cost $$ to fix / replace
    Pro's of FJ swap
Cool AF! Twin sticks baby
no more actuators ( if I replace my front diff tube with the FJ one, I don't care about the "extra wear" it may, or may not place on my front diff )
    2-low of course
same cost as the electronic 2-low ( I think )
    Con's of FJ Swap
    Hacking into my trans tunnel
lots of fab work, twin sticks, new shifter boot, hacking up my center console ( maybe )
more complicated to operate for those "less interested" in this kind of thing..
    takes more time to install.

What's everyone else's thoughts? I could probably sell the PNP 2-low and be pretty close to fully funding a FJ-swap if one of my actuators did actually die on me. The 3rd lesser attractive option is to make my own 2-low electronic kit. There's a thread on here that documents the process, but requires you to splice into the 4wd computer harness, not impossible but also not as attractive as PNP.
