This summer we need to plan a TW float down the Potomac river in WV. My buddies on the mountain do floats all the time. Then we could wheel the next day.

So the battery situation gets much much deeper.

The Northstar battery that Battery One ordered for me came in on Wednesday, and it turned out to be a Group 34, not a Group 34R (‘R’ designates reversed terminals). But, we were hoping it would still work since maybe it’d have mid mounted terminals, as a lot of those convertible (side and top post having) batteries do. No dice. Would not work without extending my cables and moving a bunch of mess around.

So, I ended up having to have them send the Northstar back, and order me their Deka AGM 34R (the truck calls for a 27F, but this is smaller and lighter, with the same specs, so we’ll try it out). This deka has one year less warranty than a northstar or an odyssey, and it was $100 cheaper.

They could have ordered me an odyssey but they werent sure how long it’d take to get in. Subsequently, i could have ordered one myself, online, for about $30-50 more than they would charge me and it’d still take 3-8days.

So, in conclusion, my area fucking sucks. Its getting to the point where i cant get anything same day anymore, there is always a minimum of a one day wait or longer. That is hideously frustrating.

Ultimately i went with the Deka AGM because it will end up being $100 cheaper than a northstar or an odyssey, i should not have to move my cables or extend anything, and they promised if i ever have trouble with it, they can have me a new battery within 24hrs. Thats the absolute best i could come up with. Which, makes sense to me, because there is literally no point, in buying an Odyssey or some other fancy, nearly $300 battery with a 4 year warranty, if i cant replace it quickly if and when it fails.

What an absolute mess. Tomorrow morning, my truck should have a new battery, after sitting for a week without one.

A week wait for a battery? Guess I'm fortunate that I can just grab a new Interstate MTP off the shelf at work when I need one and pay shop cost.
