For the traction control, ABS, or VSC to operate it must run the pump. Not sure how loud or how severe these vibrate in the Sport but there is an electric motor turning on to run a pump during these events.

I know exactly the noise you are hearing. It is a small electric motor turning on to activate the abs pump. However, you have enough throttle control it seems to have the electric motor to turn off before abs/vsc/tcs kicks in. Next time you are out in slippy conditions, floor it in 2h. You will hear the whirring start, the abs kick in, and then when you let off it will stop.

That's interesting. Maybe that's what I am hearing when I hear an almost inaudible taping/flickering sound instead of the harsher tap-tap-tap sound. I typically hear the softer sound when I incur a small amount of slippage while gently accelerating from a stoplight in snow/ice conditions while in 2wd. I'm still hedging my bets that its the brakes being pumped gently, but I have 50 year old ears. Hah!

If the traction light flashes on that means the system is intervening and is either actuating the brakes, cutting engine power, or both.

    Thread revive...
ABS disabled only when locker engaged... at least in testing automatics and manuals 4wd trucks from 2016-2017 era, no guarantee applicable for newer MY. Also, I dont think a 2wd OR was ever tested, so I make no claims there...

These trucks have open differentials, when one wheel loses traction the ABS system activates and tries to brake the spinning wheel and allow the differential to provide traction to the non spinning wheel. It is quite loud. Toyota call it auto LSD.

I tested this the other day. I can confirm that the locker must be engaged to disable ABS brakes on my 2020.

I haven't noticed any unusual noises with the traction control, or abs, but the traction control led flashes on the dash push you can feel when both activate.
