Nope! 19 years and 590k miles in my 85 on solid axles was enough. Rock crawled the Rubicon a dozen times and got that out of my system. Now I've mellowed
    to mud and snow.

If it drove anything like the 4 door jeep with solid axels on the interstate then it wouldn't be remotely worth it.

I love my truck just the way it is. I wouldn't change a thing, except maybe wireless android auto.

I would not want a solid front end. My work truck is a F350 that had death wobble. After new wheel bearings and tires it has not come back yet, but after experiencing that at 75mph in a 9k lb truck I swore I would never buy anything with a live front end.

I would entertain a 4 wheel independent Taco, as long as there was an air system on the rear to keep it at the correct ride height and camber with varying loads. Not saying I'd sell mine for it, but it would be interesting to see how it performed. A longer-travel set up like the bronco with disconnecting sway bars on both ends could be a good time.

I wouldn’t sell my 3rd gen for one but I’d consider buying a factory SAS taco. I always wanted a 79 series so I’d see how it compared.

I barely use my stock off-road ... off road . Personally if was doing extreme off-roading I would buy a older Tacoma to beat up .

I can just see it now. Solid axle. Hybrid engine. Drum brakes on every wheel for cost savings. LMFAO

i can confirm that the 2 actuators in the system can be a major headache to deal with on trails. That’s the whole reason fj/4r tcase swaps are popular

Lol. I had that exact same truck, except in maroon. Got it new. No AC. Thing was bullet proof. But it would not go over 60 ish up el Cajon pass in SoCal. Still, it was a great little truck.

interesting, never had issues on my taco with the 4x4 system. I do moderate off-roading mostly in the summers. We will find out how it does in the long run, I’m keeping my truck for a minimum of 15 years.

FWIW, I had my 07 ranger for 7 years and 165k miles, it never had issues with the “shift on the fly” system, always worked perfectly.
