I’ve posted a pic of my bike more than once... but here is a different view. This is my winter set up to stay in shape through the cold months. Anyone here ride Zwift?

On my old Ford Flex I used roof racks to transport my bikes, for my fat bike I had a RockyMounts BrassKnuckles. So one cold winter day (-5f) I took the bike out of my house and put it on the roof rack but I forgot to close the presta valve. All the air sucked out of the front tire and the bike fell off my roof going 40 mph, the only damage was my light mount on my handlebar broke and my saddle got some road rash.

My buddy spent a weekend in Moab, drove home late Sunday night, and just pulled into the garage - completely forgetting his two bikes on the roof rack. Damage to the house, both frames, two dropper posts, and the roof of his car.

The funny thing is, when I was at University, I thought MTBs on the roof was so cool. Now it seems like such a bad idea.

Depends where ya park, My last car had a roof rack and It was perfectly fine since I was always in the driveway.

I gotta say, the freaking hitch-mount is such a genius idea. Easy to load/unload, stable, nothing gets scratched... All summer, my wife and I self shuttle all over the place. A the hitch mount on her Crosstrek and then bed of the Tacoma. Moving bikes is so easy.

If my truck fit in the garage with a hitch mount on, thats all I'd use.

My house has an oddly deep garage. I can get my truck as pictured above in the garage with 3 feet to spare. Makes packing for early morning road trips really nice. Prep it and be turn key.

Jeeze, mine barely fits, I have maybe two inches (four inches total) between the door frame and the mirrors, and If I leave six inches between the door and the tailgate, I can still just barely walk in front of the truck.

But I just hate leaving $50,000 parked on the street.

mine BARELY fits with my hitch up. I've got like between a foot or two between the truck and the wall or door...I just have to get REALLY close to the back wall. Like...CENTIMETERS close...

I bought my 1UP hitch mount 5 years ago, and have never looked back. They are a breeze. I was previously doing bikes on top of roof, and am so glad I don't have to do that anymore. It rides way more solid in my SR5 than it did in my RAV4....

Here's a little throwback for you roof rack guys...this gizmo was a nice reminder if you actually remembered to stick it on the hood. I think this thing pre-dates hitch racks by about 7-10 years. Made by Yakima. The pop-up Load Alert...it stays closed over 5 mph and "pops" open when you slow down to pull in the garage. I'm pretty sure this one is from 1996.
