The last thing you need to teach a Texan about is how A/C works. Read the room.

They know how A/C works, but you’d be amazed how many people don’t know how a heat pump works! My grandma lived in Arizona and didn’t know what one was even though her house in Tempe had two of them!

We don’t even heat our homes in the middle of the worst winter storm in history.

Please stop. You’re insulting people who are dealing with a tough situation not their fault or responsibility.

I'd say gas probably has the majority but there are a ton of electric only homes, most apt buildings for example whereas your rural homes will mostly be natural gas or propane. My home (rural) is natural gas for the heat, stove and water heater, all else is electric including the blower fan on the heating system, although I do have old fashion ceramic natural gas heaters built into the walls of several rooms if needed. Don't forget being in TX where it doesn't usually get super cold, there are folks out there without heat or with just a fireplace as the sole heating source.

After 4 days, running out of firewood and propane, water shut off, 2 degree lows, and nothing open, my brother in Abilene finally got power back.

Wow, the miracles keep on coming. Austin Energy was able to restore power to the community across the road (where our Internet concentrator comm vault is) and as soon as it powered up we got our Internet back.

Once the water situation in town is fixed it’ll feel almost like the 21st century again.

I know @ChadsPride was planning on coming in to town this weekend but because of on going weather issues we will be postponing our meet for 2 weeks to March 6th.

A little something every chance we get.
:pccoffee: Good morning TTC wherever you be! Woke up to a blistering 18*, but Mr. Sunshine already has it to 21*. The faucet gave about twice the flow as last night, so maybe as it gets warm, Lockhart will start pumping water again. Going to try to make a non-food store run later, and then check the thaw process as it gets past freezing, which is supposed to be about noon. Then ONE MORE NIGHT sub-freezing, and we are done. Hope everyone woke up with things restoring or still intact! Stay warm.
