This is very true. A small empty property near the carwash where I work easily runs you close to $120,000. That’s enough to buy a few acres out in the outskirts to build a nice little home with a barn to work in

 

Maybe, I know for a long time is was the acid batteries and they need to be replace on that type of cycle. For solar I just wanted enough to help support the house not entirely live off the grid but with recent events it may be something to plan to.

So just some advice. Don't get your house before you get your wife or if you do be prepared to move. It's won't be HERS and you will most likely end up getting another house, there is nothing wrong with this thought process as it's good for both the people to be vested in what you have. As for buying some land, you can do that and consider it an investment. For the kids it's great to be in a neighborhood so they have friends they can play with while growing up. Lot's of land is something a lot of us want but also think about what's good for the family and socialization for the kids.

 

Dude you can't be worried about things that MIGHT happen. If you end up divorced you just move on and find someone who's a better fit for your life. Don't just be the person who is with someone because you want to be with someone. It's not fair to either of you. Find someone you want to be with in the good and the bad times. My wife and I make each other better people and we push each other to do things outside our comfort zones. My wife and I do almost everything together and spending lots of time with each other doesn't annoy us.

 

Also cross that bridge, when and if you get there. Cant "what if" your life away...

 

Exactly. If you do you're life will be filled with What If's and that's no way to live. One of the way's I live life is pretty simple. Life is what you make it.
