C Load KO2’s

So, I’ve been wanting to get rid of my E load ST Maxx (275/70R17)... They ride like shit and have become pretty noisy.

I ended up infiltrating a Jeep forum on Facebook and found a dude 2 hours away who works at a Jeep dealership and has a brand new set (5 tires) of the KO2’s that come off the Rubicon (285/70R17, C load) that he is going to sell me tomorrow for $600.

Has anyone noticed that the KO2’s that come with the rubicon are not like other C load KO2’s? They’re 116Q rated instead of 116S, so they have a 100mph speed rating but that also drops the weight of each tire from 58lbs to 51lbs.

Has anyone ran that exact setup on their Tacoma? Any thoughts? I figured it would be stupid to pass up the chance to have a full set AND a matching spare for only $600.

Will either keep my Coopers as snow tires (moving north soon) or sell them off if someone is interested.

Be sure to get a tread depth measurement. Most factory tires have less tread depth than the equivalent new tire. That probably explains the weight difference and different rating.

A new 285 KO2 should have 15/32" tread depth.

 

I picked up 5 KO2s from a 2020 Rubicon, great tires. Tread depth is the same as any other KO2.

 

That is a steal, grab them.

 

Sorry, I wasn't saying that this was for sure a KO2 thing, just saying to check, as it does apply to some tire brands/models.

 

Update: Picked them up this morning. Guy said he’s got tons of em, if anyone is in the Tampa area.

They seem exactly like any other C load KO2, full tread depth. Fresh off a wrangler rubicon.

Now to make them fit with no lift!

 

On snow and ice KO2s are crapy. Keep your winter tires

Well, he works at a Jeep dealership in Tampa and it seems like people are constantly having their Jeeps lifted and new tires/wheels put on at delivery then they leave factory suspension and wheels behind. He says he can get these as well as Falken wildpeaks all day super cheap.

 

Yep, this. This is the same as the 315 KO2 Raptor take-offs. Usually these take-offs can be had for a great deal so I would still do it, but something to be aware of.

 

Tampa is about 2 hours from me as well... Does he have 16" wheel equivalents? Falken or KO2...
