Yep its him, earlier this week l think he got confused and picked the wrong driveway. Today he had a legit reason to be here as his damn Silverado broke down and left him stranded, so he was here asking if l would drive him down so he could replace a part on it. But for whatever reason he just can't stay on the driveway and ends up in the yard, wish he had just called instead.

Two of today’s DoorDash orders went to the same neighborhood and the GPS literally took me right past my friend’s old house that he recently sold to a flipper; Decided to stop by for a look...

You can’t see it from this angle, but the 1981ish York/Borg-Warner central A/C unit was still there; The A/C did in fact still work (though not particularly well in my opinion; It blew cold air, but very weak), but the gas furnace did not, so I’m guessing they’ll replace the whole system...

Obviously it now has siding, and I’m guessing they will be putting shutters up; I can’t tell for sure, but I also believe the windows have been replaced...

I was talking with some other members in another one of my threads, and it got me to thinking; All 1st and 2nd Gen Tacomas, and the first couple years of the 3rd Gen, use R134a...

At some point, Toyota started using the new R1234yf refrigerant in the 3rd Gen...

My truck’s evaporator core started leaking in 2017 and it took over a year (and three recharges) before the source of the leak was discovered. Since there was nothing else wrong with the truck, I pulled the trigger on a new evap core...

    :spending:

For more than two years since the replacement, my A/C has worked perfectly; However, my truck has the original compressor, and who knows what else could wear out in the next few years? Has anybody else heard anything about R134a being entirely phased out? If my truck needs another major A/C part replaced, will I have to get the refrigerant converted?

I was told by the Robinair ( Makes A/C recovery machines) rep, that 1234YF freon will 100% replace the R134 freon.

You just have to convert the fittings.

There will be a supply for many years. I buy up and keep bottles of it. Got a few lbs of the “good stuff” waiting for the right buyer.

Right now, the “good stuff” is R—12; You referring to that or R134a?

r12 refrigerant. Not sure if it’s Freon or not, I acquired from an old hospital that was closing to build a new one and shedding its reserves.

R-12 and R-22 would be called “Freon”; R134a and R410a would simply be called “refrigerant”...
