I would say that the post is very well written. I do not see it as accusatory, or slamming ANY religious belief.

Personally, I believe in god. While I do not believe any any particular religion, I do believe in god.

I particularly like the last paragraph. Do unto others, yet live the here and now.

    Bravo OP.

That statement is gold. Why is it fine for you to discuss your religion on a public forum if I can't express my own beliefs?

    Agreed.
Who said Christmas doesn't have anything to do with Christ or religion anymore? They put Santa/Christmas related items on the shelf in October because they know the times are approaching. It's a simple marketing strategy to get you to buy more, but it doesn't have anything to do with not being a Christian holiday anymore.

Believe what you want, but shopping/gift-giving is just a part of the holiday. Christmas is the celebration of Christ, whether you acknowledge that or not. A couple of your Jewish friends celebrating Christmas just because it's fun doesn't represent the millions of people out in the US and other parts of the world that celebrate Christmas for a different reason.

It's funny how all non-religious people complain about free-speech this and free-speech that, because the moment us Christians stand up for our beliefs, we get looked down upon.

I'll have some popcorn too...

In this case I don't see someone starting a discussion, I see someone trying to incite a reaction.

Christmas is what you make of it I guess, but these days its undeniably mostly about presents, shopping, sales, and money.

I don't go around parading my non-beliefness and shitting in people's Christmases no more than (most) Christians that know what I believe in go around telling me how I'll burn in Hell. I do think that Ricky Gervais very eloquently put into words exactly how I feel.

IMO, this is a statement of an opinion, not an attack on Christmas or Christianity. If you're offended now you'd be just as offended in July. Not everyone thinks the same. Get over it.

+1 to OP for posting something that I think anyone can learn from, whether you agree with it or not.

I try to encourage these discussions, as I'm doing now. Where have I looked down upon anybody?

Quote where in the original post there is a threat or insult directed towards any group of people.

What do you view in there as incitement, or is it that any questioning of faith is incitement in itself?

I do not condone such action...

I have no problem with encouraging these discussions, but I don't want them to turn into a flame fest. I wasn't pointing you out directly, just in general when this topic comes up.

Your proving my point. Why now at Christmas? What threat is there in passive aggressive behavior. You get your jollies upsetting people. Your not fooling anyone.
