I had a 70. I bought it from another Mopar guy I knew from HS. Was supposed to be a 440/727/4.10 LSD car. Turned out to have a 426 Max Wedge in it with a Torker, 906 heads, and a nice set of Hooker Headers. I have no idea how that engine got in there. No cross ram or exhaust manifolds, but I would have likely removed them if it had. I thought someone ground and restamped the pad, but no... the bore said 426. It also said it had never been bored and hadn't been used much. The oil passages were larger. It was the severe duty block and a good one. It also had a loose converter, a decent cam and assorted goodies. It ran like crap because the previous owner had it jetted too rich, not enough timing and too hot a heat range plugs. Body was decent with little rust as it was a west coast car. I drove it, and endlessly worked on it. It was never going to get out of primer for me and I couldn't drive it in the rain or very far on the freeway.

It went through several phases with the 1050 dominator/small roller cam setup was the best and worst I ever had it. I though it was fast. It did sound really good, but at 19 I was over my head. I needed to be tuned and dialed in better but that was largely done with passes and reading plugs in the 80s. I eventually sold it to get a car I could drive to work, or in the rain, on the freeway, etc. I wish I still had it. It needed a lot of work and money, but It would be much more fun to have now.

I often wonder what happened to it.

I had an auto shop teacher who had a AA/FA, a 68 Hemi Dart replica ( a really good one) and a 70 Hemi Challenger 4 speed convertible. The Challenger was 1 of 24 IIRC. He was selling it for 10K in 1982. I practically begged my Dad to help me buy it. He wasn't going to do that in any way shape or form. I tried to tell him how rare it was and how it would be valuable one day. He just saw junk. It needed restoration but was a hell of a lot better than what a lot of restorations start out as. That's life I guess.

In 1997, I had a chance to get a 1968 Hemi RR after full resto for $30k. I saw the car at the Del Mar fairgrounds auto show. I passed on it due to the price dude was asking.

Not 2 weeks later, there was a 1973 Pantera with 4 glasspack that you could hear 3 blocks away, dude was asking $25k.
It was leaking what looked like oil and not sure I could justify getting a sports car when I am living in an apartment and going to night school.

I was in my 2 wheel Italian bike faze (1995 Ducati 916).
Should have sold the bike and got the Hemi and parked it...

Helped my friend Randy pull the nailhead out of his dads ‘32 5-window coupe. His dad built the coupe in the 1960’s, and sold it years after it was featured in Hotrod Magazine. Randy found the coupe after 20 years of searching and investigation about three years ago. Its now being freshened up and returned to its original configuration. I believe its a 364 Buick Nailhead but it might be a 322, i didnt clarify. But it has a mild cam. Its mated to a ‘39 Ford transmission with Lincoln Zephyr gears in it. turning an original Culver City case halibrand quickchange rearend

My heart will always be in a 1928-1932 early 40’s style Ford roadster or roadster pickup hotrod, but i am a lover of many types of cars. This right here, Rod Emory built “Emory Outlaw” porsche 356 coupe is definitely in my top ten list of dream cars
