Anyone having issues where you drop your keys and the spring loses its tension? It has happened to me twice now and when I try to flip the key out it won't come out. Even if I try to pull the key it won't budge. Had to reset the spring, luckily I keep the black tin with the allen wrench in the glove box.

Got my minimalist fob through Caliraised Offroad... Ordered it back in September because their site said they were in stock. Turned out that was false.

Messaged about other items in the order and communications were slow (week long wait for replies).

I saw black was in stock at the MESO site and I didn't want to order 2 black ones, so I tried to get a hold of Caliraised Offroad (calls and email) - no answer. Meso site is sold out.

Then in January Caliraised Offroad said they had MGM fobs in stock, not black, so I said sure, I will live with that, just send what you have and we can finally close out this order.

Warehouse pickers must have messed up, and now I have cement grey.
    Cool.

I'll order other colors through Meso direct next time they're available, because that whole endeavor was bullshit.

The minimalist fob itself - Awesome! Been a long time coming and happy to finally have one. Looking forward to nabbing one more for my "spare" fob.

How is the cement color? Do you have a cement Tacoma you can put it up next to for a comparison?

Considering surface finish and material, I would say its a damn good match. If you could get some code matched paint and test blotch on paper or plastic surface, I would bet it could blend in pretty well. The way ambient light reflects and refracts through the clear coat will give the appearance of a different color, plus the difference in surface finish.
I'm happy with it. Still would have preferred black, Army green, or maybe another color fob, but oh well. Next one around.

Black is in stock on MESO's site.

That sucks about the hassle too.

LOL I just checked yesterday; it was all showing out of stock.

I need to order a bunch of stuff to justify the shipping cost to Canada.

MESO has good customer service. Austin helped me out when he was not obligated to at all. Good place if they would just stock up to serve the needs.

ALL THE TIME. It left me stranded once because I didn't have the allen key with me. I'm really close to just going back to my normal key because of the hassle.

Really interested but my only worry is the battery. Is it possible to open the doors with the touch door handle while you have a dead minimalist fob? Or will I have to carry the physical key with me?

Can anyone tell me if this is TOAST? I dropped the fob, from waistlevel, it wouldn't flip open, so I took it apart and this part where the spring sits doesn't look like it's meant to come apart - which if that's the case I'm assuming I have to ante up for a new fob from MESO.

    Thanks for any help.

You have to reset the spring. Its a common annoyance because probably have to reset the spring everytime you drop your keys, and will definitely be a problem if you are not at home as you will be stranded when you notice you can't flip the key open. There's video on Meso Customs website on how to do it. Doesn't take long either.

Anyone else have problems with fitment of the minimalist key fob? When I swapped mine with my stock 2018 guts, the circuit board was a little loose inside and would rattle around anytime I picked it up. I also had trouble with the actual buttons where they weren't sitting flush with the shell and even the lock key would get stuck inside the shell and would be pressing down the lock button and the truck thinks I'm holding it down. I have to move the actual key to get it to return to its normal position. These 2 factors make this fob unusable

Not common. Send us a ticket at the bottom of the website and we can get you out a new one. I’ve sold thousands and no complaints like that.

Well I figured out the problem. Complete and utter user error for not reading directions closer. I missed the step to swap the silicone layer from the OEM fob to the minimalist. This obviously solved my problem. How embarrassing. Tell Trevor in CS that I won't be bothering him about the return.

It's a great product and my pocket is happier with less bulk thanks to this fob. I will recommend to all other tacoma owners I come across. Thanks for the help.

Was thinking about a backup/off road key in orange.

I've had mine together for.... Eh whenever the first batch of flip fobs was run.

For the vast majority of that, it feels like if I even think about the button, the key flips out. That spring is sensitive.

It's not the end of the world, defeats the purpose of the flip function since now I just leave it out for the most part. Still a great shell and I'm extremely happy I bought it. (Even sliced my thumb open digging the transponder chip out of my oem key) :D

This is killing me. I searched everywhere for an orange fob, hoping somewhere had one hiding.

Are these close or months away still?
