Schultz Pass loop. Follow the suggested route on MTB Project. Its 11 miles but doesnt feel like it. From the bottom go up Lower Moto trail, its somehow flowy and fun going uphill, no joke. Go down Schultz Creek trail. Its the most fun flowy trail I think in all of Flagstaff. Its not technical but its super flowy and you can go very fast. It follows the creek and road. You can literally film from your car while your friends ride down the entire trail, its rad.

Sounds like a plan. I've got a friend comin in town and well do that and checkout Tuthill one day, camp top of schnebly then run the hog trails in Sedona that morning. Get in some wheeling, then ride hiline either next morning or that afternoon/evening depending how good the legs are feeling. If we get hiline in that afternoon we'll make our way toward Prescott and go ride the dells the next morning before coming back to phoenix and hitting National trail on South Mountain. (gotta show him the local everyday trails as well) I figure this is a pretty good sampler of the riding Arizona has to offer.

Aloha AZ peeps... question for ya’ll with experience of Phoenix/Scottsdale temps during the summer. I’ve been looking and temps can get up above 105 but it’s dry heat yeah? Is is tolerable to go cycling, walking etc during the day or do u work up a sweat before getting the bike out of the garage?

Currently living in HI and trying to pinpoint if Pho/Sco is doable or if Prescott is gonna be a better fit if we move...

You put this in the Northern Arizona thread, Northern AZ is very different than the valley ha. Youll get more answers in the BS thread but in short, no you cant do anything outside in the summer unless youre nocturnal. Not only is it not tolerable, its downright dangerous. It regularly gets above 110 degrees and sometimes above 115. Dry doesnt matter. Sometimes the lows stay in the 90s, its brutal. If you even have to ask, Prescott is better.

I live in Prescott, the summers are near perfect. The winters are a bit brutal for me though but I’m a cranky dude when it gets cold. If I could, I would live in Prescott for the summer and Phoenix for the winter. The summers in Prescott can get up to the high 90’s with the occasional 100. But for the most part late spring and early fall are around high 80’s. Winters are 30’s and 40’s.

Edit: if you plan to move to Prescott area, you need to be aggressive in finding a house. The real estate market here moves fast!

you said move,,, so, i say either is perfectly doable in todays world, i mean,

in the desert its hot for a few months where you might limit time outside doing activities and maybe spend more time travelling to the mtns.

in the mtns, its cold for a few months where you might limit time outside doing activities and maybe spend more time travelling to the deserts.

guess it really depends the preferred invironment you want to live, and if an income is needed and can be found.

well, my favorite loop in all of AZ is Los Burros in the white mtns,, but its neither aggresive nor in Flagstaff.

want what i'd call fairly aggressive in flag area,,, Pickle, Prom Nite and even Jedi,,, from Brookbank loop, you'll have an absolute blast.

Yeah not sleeping is not fun. At least a/c is cheap. Currently here in summer nighttime low is 80 and electricity is $.38 a kw

Thanks to u guys I already know I want to be higher elevation, I’m not a fan of too hot. I spent 3 years 8,500 ft up in CO. Winters were just a bit too long at that elev.

Snow bird for a weekend ya? That could work.

You’re not wrong there, we’ve been watching for about 6 months. It’s not just AZ. Been helping Sister in law in Wenatchee and prices have gone up like crazy and everything is selling instantly, same here in HI, people retiring and relocating and working from home has changed things here.

Im a wedding photographer and my business has gone to shit. Time for another move and the Mrs really liked AZ on the few visits she’s done, I’ve never been.

I came from Dallas 3 years ago which is a humid heat. Evenings and early early morning are fine to me in summer. But from 8-8 I try not to do any outdoors activity for any extended amount of time, and I haven't gotten used to it yet. Prescott would be awesome if you don't have a commute and don't mind some cold in the winters. If you plan on doing any roadtrips to Colorado/Utah or anywhere north really, the extra 1.5 hours is nice.

Thanks! I can do more stuff in the cold than I can in the hot, one example is walking the dog. We’d both go stir crazy if we couldn’t walk during 8-8.

Yeah, it gets so hot here it should be illegal to walk your bog because it will burn their pads yet you still see assholes doing it.

Yup, we restrict ourselves when we go out here in HI, would be nice to live somewhere where we don’t have to stress about that.

I’m looking at Prescott weather patterns and I’m really liking what I’m seeing. either there or somewhere in the corridor in between, Cordes Lake would be a location good for me to travel north/south for gigs...

Arizona is full of climate surprises. I left my house in Flagstaff one morning in the 50s, drove to Bullhead City got out of the work truck into 115* heat. That was a not so fun day.

@Sixthelement “over the soft topper” bed rack starting to take shape. One more top cross member and then acc mounts to go and she’ll hopefully be ready for paint this weekend.

Hopefully start @Atl-atl and Caroline sliders while waiting for paint to dry this weekend. Cousins rock sliders are out since he is trading the truck in for a land cruiser. Coot roof rack can probably push back as well as parents cargo rack (already started it). So @SweatyBiscuit if you haven’t re-routed your exhaust I’d work on that in the next week or two

Putting in some work. Rack is ready for paint tomorrow, and two sets of sliders are laced up abs ready for supports.
