I’ve converted one garage stall into my man cave and setup as my workshop of sorts. Not much “work” gets done on it beyond mixing yard chemicals, cleaning guns and fixing my son’s RC cars. As you can tell I’m a little OCD. Everything must have a home and almost all of it is out of sight. It’s a good place to unwind and catch a game though!

Looks like a cool place to watch tv. Haha. That won’t stay nice in my garage for long, too much kid stuff and projects will make a mess of a pretty space in no time.

Is that a jobsite sawstop? Was thinking of getting one. I'm sure the newer models are much different but how do you like it?

Hope to build my workbench this weekend in our new house. Thinking a simple 2ft x 8ft. One shelf below. I was just planning to mount directly to the back wall. Probably 2x4 for top support and 4x4 for the front legs.

Need to mount a grinding wheel and really looking forward to a vise

I’ve been working to improve my work area, just added some hanging cabinets, but I still need to do the face frames and doors.

Well almost done. Not bad for picking up materials at 8pm. Still have the plywood top/shelf to do and a peg board. 94 inches long, 30 inch deep, and with the plywood top 38 inches tall.

Tight fit in between all the other shelving16108652828951434673918181160143.jpg

It’s not much, but it works. I’ve been meaning to hang some pegboard on the wall to the left to put some of my tools up on. I hope someday I can get that corner of my bench back that my wife took over to put the family’s supply of face masks on, lol.

And here is my other workbench where I build and fix bass guitars...

Here’s the work benches at work. The first two are the ones I use. The second two are my coworkers. He keeps everything this way :annoyed:

People that keep their work spaces like his don't realize how much that speaks to how they live their life.

Thats not only a false statement but also a bad way to judge someone. I’ve worked with several people who are well organized in their personal life but work in organized chaos. Their mess on the bench is their organized chaos and their way of working. It’s not my way for sure, but for some people, it works for them.

That's your opinion and I'm just speaking to my experiences. We're splitting hairs here too because someone's training couldve helped make them the way they are.

Example- In a small business where efficiency and speed may be the biggest daily goals with the bottom line being at the front of everyone's mind may lead to having a work space like that being acceptable.

In the work that I do, aerospace assembly & maintenance, speed is dead last on the list of importance. It's process, procedures, safety and generally making sure the potentially one of a kind vehicle isn't damaged. Level 10 analness.

    For sure, truth right here.

I have 3 work benches, and two work tables. Some are very clean, some are pretty messy. Am I bi-polar? Some people live in shithole houses and workbench neat. Some people have perfect books, every account straight up perfect, family great, etc workbench a mess. Some people have perfectly clean work benches and don't get much done.

first post here. here's my 16' of bowling alley flooring as workbench top in the shop. It's heavy as hell, looks really awesome, but i feel bad "working" on it. Picture taken a few years ago, current status is of course burried under 2' of crap from end to end.
