Got the 255/80 St Maxx on today. Weather is to crappy to get a photo. Didn’t notice much of a power drop but can definitely tell the speedo is off now

Those look perfect on there. Maybe I’ve been looking at them for too long, but these skinnies really don’t seem that narrow. 285’s look too phat. Maybe I’m getting old lol

I went from 285’s to 255 and much prefer the skinnies. Look wise and drivability off road.

I plan to purchase a set of extreme off-road tires in 255-85-16 and place on a set of used cheap Toyota oem truck wheels to be used for off road fun only.

What is the best offset to insure no rubbing on my stock height 2020 SR 4x4 AC?

Hoping to find a cheap set of alloy oem Tacoma or 4 runner wheels. I'm assuming the offsets are the same or close but have no idea really.

Looks aren't important for this off-road set up so used cheap oem wheels will do. Is there any particular oem wheel that works best with 255 85 16?

My understanding is that you won't have any rubbing issues on the UCA or LCA with a 255, but could experience some rubbing on the fender/mudflap/body area depending on overall diameter.

Look for stock TRD OR wheels. I run them now with Toyo MT 255/85R16 on stock suspension with no rubbing fully stuffed. No cutting, no mods, just tires.

Removed the front mudflaps and that eliminated my rubbing, on-road at least

    It is just money...

There's some variance in tires, but mine rubs on a similar set-up if you get a good weight transfer while turning. No mudflaps. I'm wondering what people mean by 'full stuff.'

By full stuff, I mean the wheel and tire are fully compressed into the wheel well. I have no rubbing off road when my suspension is fully articulated and my steering wheel is at full lock. I have a stock ride height 3rd gen TRD OR. Some rubbing will occur on 2nd gens. I have run these tires on both.

I am about to step up to skinny 35x10.5x17’s next week. I will be hammering the pinch weld and chopping the cab mount. My understanding is fitment modifications should be close to that of a 285. I have never had to cut because I have always ran 255/85R16’s.

What tire are you going with for the skinny 35?

Kenda Klever RT 35x10.5x17 D-Load. Only tire in this size. I’m hoping it catches on with other tire manufacturers.

I was eyeing those as well. I’m a long way away from needing new tires. Trying to keep the skinnies going. Got to Crush the isz in the outback.

Really wish they had more 16 inch options, I would have went with one of these tires

Agreed. I wish they had a 35x10.5x16 so I wouldn’t have had to buy new wheels and it would have had more sidewall. Maybe we’ll see more options in the future.
