I just bought a 2005 tacoma 4 cylinder 5 speed with hight miles 266k to be exact. It has a new frame from the factory. And a few other new things on it. The engine seems like its in good shape I have not owned the 4banger yet. So what are some things I should look over and check under the hood to make sure everything is running as it should? I got the truck for a good price and I'm hoping I can keep it going for alot longer. If you guys got any suggestions on what I should check and replace id love to hear it!

Take care of the Tacoma and you can easily get over the 400,000 mile mark. :burnrubber:

Replace the spark plugs, Change all the fluids and inspect the condition of the fluids drained. Check your alignment cams are not seized and also check condition of the wheel bearings. Grease up all the zerks on the driveshaft. Enjoy the truck.

Like everyone has already said. Replace the plugs, the fluids and maybe even the serpentine belt. Might as well start fresh.

Congratulations on your Tacoma  and welcome to TW.

Congrats on the truck. With the new frame I'd be feeling pretty good about that. And the 4cyl will last forever if you treat it right.

I’ll second what everyone said: plugs, fluids, belts, pulleys, grease everything that can be greased. If you’re at that mileage with the original water pump it may be worth swapping that and thermostat out if you’re going to change belt and coolant. Other things I’ve had to do to my 100k mile 4 cylinder is the power steering return line (rusted out), front wheel bearings, lower intermediate steering shaft (seized up). I’m also in a heavy salt area so I’ve had to deal with a lot of rust items.

the ARBs are beefy as heck that’s for sure! I installed one on a buddys truck a few years ago and needed a backiotomy afterwards.
