Hey guys, I’ve looked around a bit and haven’t found a thread for this, so here goes.
Wondering how/ where to get a (preferably black) TRD sport scooped hood. I’d like to swap it with my non-scooped hood. yes the only reason is that it would look better:D)
    Any advice much appreciated!

It'd be great, if you can ever find one, but hard to do. I checked for salvaged ones but for me, I never found one that didn't need some type of repair. Finally went to a local body shop, they got me a new OEM & painted & blended to match & installed. Not cheeeep, $1K to $1,200, but my search is over, & I've got what I want. Good luck.

Yea, if I did not do the 2012 conversion already on my truck, I'd be all over this.

Also consider trying offer-up, craigslist, dismantling shops, ebay motors, or you can try some generic brand, but i'm not too sure on fit.

That add says SR5 hood with OEM hood scoop, I don't know what he has, but not that. You can't put an OEM hood scoop on an SR5 hood. You will need to get the "SPORT" hood, it's got to be stamped, or molded, for the scoop. I think my OEM hood with all parts needed for scoop was <$600, the rest was painting & blending. A good "SPORT" hood for $300 is a great deal anywhere.

There's appx. 1/2 dozen more parts to finish the scoop opening. I'm not sure if they are available aftermarket or not, but if the got to come from a Toyota dealer they won't be cheap. Then it needs paint.

Yes, but if u remember the scoop components block air from going through so if u wanted it to be somewhat functional and not just for looks no point in going to the dealership for all the components just put a small screen/grill to protect from debris and then ur not too far in cost wise. Now with paint it’s another story, it’s hard to colour match any second gen now cause the newest is 6 years old now and a colour match fresh coat will be different then a paint job that’s 6-16 years old you might aswell paint is a neutral colour like black or try and get it the same tone or shade as ur older faded paint, but still I think the price for that hoods a pretty good deal especially compared to what a dealership would charge for a oem one and better then a used one from a recker

I gave up on a scooped hood after following the 'swap' thread for a short while, when I first got my Taco. Checked locally, nada. If one turns up (reasonable) I'd take it, I can do the paint to match. Last I checked the wreckers (LKQ) they were running about $1000-1200, and like hens-teeth. May as well buy new. Eff that. Flat hood looking better all the time...:notsure:

I don’t think they make one that is compatible all the way to 2005-2015, but here are the links:

A simple call to salvage yard got me a hood. LKQ website shows inventory, I didn’t worry about the color and just painted the entire front clip on the truck. Cost about 250 dollars total and I installed it myself. I did farm out the paint work but the truck look ok now
