Damn, I'm not gonna be home for months starting in April. Might have to rain check or back out. Deployment getting in the way.

Over time there could be a bit of a difference in the paint beneath the panel and the rest of the vehicle's paint since they will be exposed to different conditions (just like under a decal or sticker). On the back side of the panel we pre-install a neoprene thermal barrier (weather stripping) which raises the panel up off the hood to prevent any contact between the panel and the hood as well as create small air pocket under the panel to help deal with heat. We also include a protective vehicle vinyl which goes on the hood under the panel to help protect the paint from any contact with the hood.

These panels are meant to be a permanent install, so once they are on there its meant to be there for the life of the vehicle. It is possible to remove the panel, but I would only do so if for some reason the panel failed and we needed to replace it (We've yet to have any fail on us!).

Nice, thanks for answering my question! Watching thread. Will throw down on the group buy once closer to 20. Looks like a solid product.

@jeeper Question for you, does a clear wrap on the hood mess with the application or the adherence of the panel over time? or at install?

Does the solar panel come with the connectors if you only order the panel and vinyl without the controller? If so do they come in a set for wiring or would I need to order some?

Yes, all of our panels come with MC4 connectors pre-installed.

It can yes. We recommend removing any pre-existing vinyl prior to installing our panels. We've found that the tape does not adhere as well to vinyl as it does to the vehicle paint itself.

Any chance I can get an extra set of MC4 connectors on the order? (just makes it easier for install on my end because my Redarc does not have an MC4 connector.)

Well shoot. I was going to pull the trigger on this, but I have full hood paint protection film and a matte black hood decal that I don't want to remove. I'll have to give it some more thought.

While we can't "professionally" recommend this.....there are many customers out there with 3rd gen taco's running our system on pre-existing vinyl's with no issues.

We just can't guarantee how it will work as we have not tested on every different vehicle vinyl out there.

Is that for 95-00 or 01-04 since the hoods are different?
