This is the one hobby I haven’t ventured into because I’m afraid it’s a slippery slope. This coming from the guy who has brewed beer, made cheese, raised chickens, made kombucha, and smoked meats...

It’s really not hard, it’s just time consuming

 

Any tips to beginners jerky? Might have to take on a new hobby.

 

Smoked jerky is quicker than dehydrated! Although id like to do a smoked then dehydrated combo!

 

I’ve never tried smoking it, always dehydrated. I need to smoke some.

 

Riblet can tell you, he sent me some he smoked. It was delicious

 

Typically I do flank steak for 3 hours at 225 after a night of soak in... the special mix!

Holy heck, so you just smoke it to death??!?!! I thought I needed a dehydrator. I’ll have to look into this. Do you have any forums or sites with more info/tips?

 

Try small batches till you find the ones you prefer. Smoker time varies as to how thick you slice it. Try to slice everything the same

 

Awesome, I’ll look into this. Seems like I could have fun with this!

But one serious question, do I need to make sweet love to it like this? Or is this optional?
