Not me bro. My Pitbulls are 35 1/4" at 28PSI under the truck. They big. lol

I didn't have any issues with any sales tactics. The noise and the fact they are out of true are what annoys me. There's also over a pound of lead on each tire to try and balance them. They are great in the rocks and the sidewalls are tough as shit so I still have them.

What tire did you move on too?

For the gearing discussion: I have 37s and 5.29s with my 3.4 5spd and love it. I can actually use and accelerate in 5th. You can't go wrong with being overgeared IMO, and no trailer so I have to drive this thing evreywhere.

Also if people are concerned with cab noise a SAS rock crawler isn't for them LOL!

 

Noise doesn't concern me since I still haven't sound deaden my truck. I'm probably just going to look at 5.29s as the go to option for me when I get around to regearing. Just send it and don't look back.

Didn't I see on another forum that you tore the sidewall and are using some kind of cold vulcanizing compound to try and seal it back up?

 

Yep. Rema cold vulc.

I was doing some snow wheeling and on the way out I was hauling ass in about 12" of snow. Came around a corner and the ass end slid out. My tires where at 6 PSI. Right rear hit a very sharp, very large, very pointy rock. The impact sent the ass end about 2 feet into the air. FML.

I got out to inspect the damage. The tire had a 1x1 chunk the was obviously gashed but the rubber was still attached. I peeled it back and could see plenty of steel belting exposed. I took some water and put it on the gash. Little bubbles formed so I knew I had a slow leak but the tire was still holding plenty of air. I got back into the rig and drove home.

2 days later it still had 4 pounds in it. I ordered the REMA since it's sidewall damage just to see how it does. I'm waiting on that to get here. I have a matching spare that's on the rig now.

I won't say that impact would have cut and deflated every tire out there but I will say it would have destroyed most of them. So, yeah, the sidewalls are tough as shit. lol

 

Forsure. From how you describe it, it definitely sounds like a hell of an impact. Also quite the gaper from the pic I saw of it.
I'll be curious on how the cold vulc holds up. Don't have any experience with that kinda stuff. Pretty involved repair process though it seems.

 

This is the only pic I have of the tire currently. It's after I pulled it and sprayed it with some soapy water. I'll get a more detailed pic of the gash when I repair it.

My plan it to cut out the gouged rubber. Step bit a 1/2" hole in the sidewall. Then rough it up and put on the primer. Then mix the cold vulc and push it though the hole. Smooth out both sides and wait 24 hours for it to cure. It should effectively make a giant, pliable plug. The stuff gets great reviews on wheeling site like Pirate so I'm sure it will work just fine for a trail spare.

 

I have around 2,000 miles on 4.88's with 33" mud terrains.

I could being happy with 5.29's.

As intrigued as I was about your diffs, I should just commit to 5.29s and send it. If you want to regear look at River City Differential. My dad's fabricator recommends them. They've got good reviews and they're probably better than the last place you went to.

Good to know. If I was planning on staying with 33s, then definitely I'd be a little more interested in 4.88s now.
