My 2 month old DC OR 4x4, w/ 1000 miles on it has a dead battery. I put it on a trickle charger for 14 hours about a week ago, and I thought the problem was solved, but it just drained again. The truck has been sitting for a few weeks in a heated garage, and not driven, b/c I really havn't gone any where, and for short trip I drive the Explorer. The only changes I have made that have anything to do with electrical is LED fogs, LED interior lighting, and a few lights in my upgraded grill, which I did an add a fuse to the fuel pump for constant on. I dont see anything on, when the truck is off. Just FYI, I lack more than VERY basic mechanical skills. Any ideas would be appreciated. Also, will those lights be a problem w/ my warranty, should I end up at the dealership, which is nearly an hour away?

Batteries have terrible quality control. It could just be a bad battery. Fully charge it, then disconnect one cable from truck. If there is a fault you will know the next time you try to start the truck. Or you can take it in and have it load tested.

Did your add a fuse to fuel pump bypass relay leaving pump on constantly?

It could be a few things. 1- a faulty battery, 2- alternator not charging properly, 3- a parasitic draw on the battery, all modern vehicles will draw some power from the battery for computers. Accessories can create unwanted draws. Not driving for a couple weeks could draw the battery down. If you can get the starting/charging system tested at a local shop or parts store thatd help narrow down your problem

Why would you put it to the fuel pump fuse? That's crazy to me.

I will try all of the above. Thank you. And the fuel pump fuse, ahh, I saw in a YouTube video if you just wanted them on all the, in addition to DRL, that was the way to do it. Yep. Like I said, not really the greatest auto mechanic of all time. But not afraid to try. :)
