Found this guy sitting in the only sunny spot against the house in the garden this morning. I figured he was freezing so I brought him inside and made a little house in a box. After a few hours he was active again. Now I’m getting too attached... His name is Bugs and he ate his lettuce dinner out of my hand this evening

 

Bad news! Bugs just died. I checked on him before I got in the shower and when I got out, I opened up his box to let him hop around and he was dead! Very sad morning over here

Went on what was supposed to be more of a scenic drive up from Dixon Ford and over to Ponca to try and see some Elk, ended out winning a game of "find a deep ass muddy rut hiding under ice" lol. Wasn't crawl controlling out of that hole, ended up anchoring the GX too a tree to winch me backwards.

Trying to decide about whether to get my trailer powder coated or just go cheap later in the spring myself. I REALLY think it'd look nice if the boxes were all a grey color to kinda match my truck. I have a spare TRD rim that I sized up earlier and they look sweet. But I'll need to find at least two more. The bolt pattern matches, but it'd need spacers or a longer axle. It's got the square-type axle right now. I'll need to change the bearings in it, just for my peace of mind, especially if I put the TRD wheels and tires on it.

I've gotten myself some unistrut to make some crossbars going the right way. I'm excited to get the rtt mounted up and play with it.



Sidenote, stabilizer jacks and two wheeled jacks on the tongue make tire changes very easy. Yes, I used an impact on the stabilizer jack: it's older and kinda rusty. Don't sue me. Probably could stand to have a new pair anyway..

EDIT: Guess this means I'll be ISO a couple TRD OR rims. Based on my facebook marketplace experience, I'll probably get discouraged and get one from Ebay eventually.

 

Sounds like a fun project. I would def do it myself. Grind, prime and use some quality enamel. You’ll do a much better job and can change colors anytime you like. Let me know when you’re ready for wheels. Landers gave me a great deal with discounts and parts desk guy is great.

 

Do you know if Landers can get good deals on TRD parts? Im looking at getting the TRD exhaust sometime but shipping from anywhere online is ~$200 and definitely don't want to pay that for something that only costs like $350.

 

I will say the parts guys at McLarty are pretty cool and have worked with me on price before. But I've been in there about once a week lately getting odds and ends for the '07 4Runner I picked up. That's about the only thing I like about McLarty though. We bought prepaid maintenance out to 60k miles and EVERY time it's been in the service people have tried to upsell ridiculous stuff. Tried to tell my wife she needed tires when she had new DuraTracs with less than 500 miles just because tires were recommended for that service interval.

Edit: Also, not sure where you're currently shopping but some of the dealerships that sell parts online have free shipping over a certain dollar value. I've ordered from LaGrange and Royal South a few times. Not sure if that would work for exhaust though because I suspect that's a freight item.

 

I can call and find out what price would be if you can get me a part number(s). I've also ordered online from McGeorge Toyota Online Parts several times for Tacoma and LC parts, and they've always been competitive or better.

Edit: From what I remember, Landers has never charged me shipping if I pick it up there, they just throw it on the truck that's coming anyway. I've never ordered larger items though.

 

Alright, I was just wondering if y'all knew any more than I did. No big deal, I will probably inquire about it next time I go for service since that's where I take mine. Ive never ordered parts through the dealer. Thanks though!

Man I know at least two of y'all have bought front bumpers from the new hip NWA fabrication company, but I'm over here trying to get a little info on a rear bumper they have pictured on their site and it's like pulling teeth for some very vague answers. Kind of a bummer. End of rant.
