Here are those photos, I'm pretty sure ill be moving the canopy back a bit just to give a bit more clearance to the Cab and make it easier to clean the glass and clear snow from between the canopy and the cab.

mounting the mattrax on the Molle panel looks to be a no brainer if I had the EVOa.

I have ActionTrax, im not sure how they compare to Max trax but they are about 2inches ish too long to mount on the Molle, I've thought about mounting them to the exterior of the side doors but I'm not ready to drill into the sides just yet

I don't have either yet but it's a bummer they dont' fit. When I get some I may get some heavy duty magnets to mount mine (EVO sport) to the roof of the shell so they're out of the way.

Maybe put a first aid kit and pouches with additional recovery gear? I guess the thought process I would use is what are things I want easy access to that I will use a lot.

These SmartCaps look sexy as hell on these trucks. It is definitely making me rethink about what shell I would like to install. The mounting system seems pretty solid, I am going to assume one would still need to add bed stiffeners to the bed to prevent any flexing?

Absolutely, i figure as i use the cap ill figure out what makes most sense for mounting there, probably some tools and common recovery items that arent too large. The idea about the magnets is not a bad idea, just got to make sure they wont turn into projectiles spearing someone else under heavy breaking.

In one of the RSI threads someone posted about using some ridiculously strong magnets. Either that or figure out a way to use the holes for the table storage to add a small shelf or net for storage

It was mentioned above to me that they may not be needed but they're cheap insurance. I just added a set of Total Chaos ones to my bed this weekend. My RSI cap is still waiting to get here so I can't tell you for sure but better to have them and not need them.

Do you have any water concerns with it being 5 pieces put together? Did you add anything extra to make it more water tight?

FWIW, when the dealer installed my new SmartCap, I asked that question re: possible leakage. I was told that they had sold many SmartCaps for a variety of trucks and (so far) not a single complaint about water getting in. That's one reason I bought the SmartCap rather than a fiberglass cap. When you latch any of the windows, the window is actually pulled down into the rubber gasket/seal, really a tight seal. My experiences with fiberglass caps in the past is that they all leaked, some much worse than others. I'll find out when I take the truck to the drive-thru car wash.

I'm not too concerned about water infiltration, when assembling there's a good foam gasket on each panel as you fit them together . The d rubber also feels fairly substantial although we will have to see how it holds up over summer. I don't think it's water tight but provided you plug up the gaps in the bed in the front and figure out a gasket for the tailgate, I'd be very surprised if you ended up with a ton of water in the bed.

To me, I consider a canopy to be made similar to the tops of the Ford Bronco, 4-Runner, Chev Blazer, etc.
The tops "seal" to a channel which is pre-formed in the two pieces joined, like the side windows of the SmartCap.
What's so difficult to design the the cap so it sits over the sill (bed rails of the truck)?
If any caulking or sealant is necessary between the bulbous seal of the top, and the bedrails of the truck, the design is inferior.
Given that analogy, a new seal would be necessary when the top is R/R. So the design is no better than any other canopy out there, regarding water infiltration.

I'll also say. Every time I R/R'd my LEER, a new seal was necessary. Along with a heavy sealant applied across the front to stop water from coming in.
This is why I'm very hesitant to throw 4k plus out there for any top.

Can you unlock/open the panel doors from inside the canopy?

Not currently, in the future there are supposed to be new latches you could swap out that would allow you to, there's not any definitive timeline for those from what i understand

I don’t notice a difference yet but I do notice less bed rattle with it on.

So far not really, the question will be when i have it fully loaded down at expedition weight how it feels.

New latches should be out 4th quarter of this year. They will allow the user to open the hatches from the interior.
