Got a mismatched / two tone topper and truck? It's the best way!

Is the shell black or blue? Looks just like mine, magnetic Grey truck midnight black metallic shell

Bought it used in MGM for $400, color-matched for $450. I had a black topper on my silver 2014 and love the two-tone look but wanted to try the color matched. I’m happy with the results

 

I picked this up tonight for $250. I drove 2 hours to look at it, and it wasn't even the same one that was in the ad. I was pretty pissed, but he came down on the price a lot... I didn't really want a high rise. I like the cab high look. It's a "Continental mark iv", which I can't even find in a Google search, except for a few old for sale ads. So I don't even know where to get parts for it if needed. I guess I can paint it and make it look better. Seems to fit ok, but definitely not made for my truck. I think it'll look and fit a little better if I take the plastic guards off the top of the bed rails.

 

Good deal either way. I like the cab high look as well but the high rise will be more comfortable for sure if you spend any time back there

 

I’m mismatched now and it looks clean with the black TRD wheels. But I’m thinking of two toning the camper shell (black roof/magnetic gray sides) Also painting the roof on my truck black. Not 100% sold just yet but that’s my idea

I think the high rise looks good. Color match it, and it'll look even better. And as mentioned above, that little extra space will be nice if you do any sleeping in there.

 

I also have dark matte bronze SCS Stealth 6s to go on, kinda match the cap a little bit

It's like a bronze colour on black, so I'm hoping my bronze wheels kind of match a little bit, even to just make it look like it was semi planned

 

Any of you with a light color Tacoma with a black shell, or if you had a lighter color shell and had it painted black, did you find the bed got any hotter with the black?

I love the mismatch idea with a black topper, but worried about the heat absorption and camping/sleeping in the bed.

 

I did a while ago. Black topper on Lunar Mist. Yes, it got pretty hot back there. I took a road trip to Colorado from Florida about 5 years ago with the intentions of sleeping in the back. It was too hot for me and the Mrs.. So we ended up tenting it and hotels.

 

Looks real good. My next Tacoma will be that color

 

Just picked up this MGM mid-rise shell for my inferno DCSB. Great deal and close by, so I couldn't resist! I was expecting the mismatch to drive me insane, but it's quickly grown on me.

 

None of my Tacoma's ever matched their shells.

Nice. My 1st gend and second don't match. The 1st was because shell was cheap, real cheap($30). My second gen on purpose found on post #1. Magnet Grey truck black metallic shell

I say why not mismatch as long as you're not running drugs or something (so you don't stick out obviously).
