Critters crawling underneath Tacoma’s and chewing engine wires.

Anyone else had this done

 

I don't live in California anymore so no problems with mice, rats, tweakers etc

 

My Tacoma still in shop getting fixed. Whatever it was chewed the whole wiring harness up. Really sucks

 

3rd Gen Tacoma’s do not have soy based wire insulation.

 

A good cheap deterrent is dryer sheets. Stuff them in engine compartment areas. Mice, rats and other critters don’t like the scent. Have done this for years in many vehicles. Just need to change them out often as they lose their scent.

Hopefully getting Tacoma back tomorrow.

 

I feel lost with it in the shop. I got a rental which is a Nissan truck but does not compare to my Tacoma.lol

 

I have had mice chew right through dryer sheets and Irish Spring soap, peppermint oil spray seems to be about the only deterrent that actually works.

 

Don’t park near walls or brush/plants. Also helps that I live in an area full of stray cats.

 

Lucky you with the stray cats.lol. I got golfers and moles in my lawn. They could be the culprits.

 

I feel like the dude from Caddie Shack trying to get those suckers for a year now. Lol

 

Every morning I have to scare the cats away from the top of the muffler and tires. There’s even evidence that the cats are sleeping on top of the engine.

Don't chase 'em away.

Just start like normal and go. It will be a herding thinning event.

My granny lived on a farm with loads of barn cats. Every time we'd visit, a cat would sleep on a tire, in the engine bay..... More than once we would need install the fan belt or leave a sail cat. My aunt would just scoop 'em up with a shovel, bury them in the pine grove.


BTW, I thought it was illegal to kill the golfers????

I don’t think so in California. Golpher and Moles trappings and poisons are sold out here because they cause so much problems

 

I’m hoping they aren’t the ones who chewed the the wires to my Tacoma engine. if so they just opened a can a whoop ass.lol
