This is my first week going all in on next to no carbs and high protein.

The carb flu is real and it sucks.

But it will pass. Eventually. :p

Well, my better half asked me to take her impala to get washed today. I replaced the power steering pump in this car a couple months ago only to discover the steering rack is leaking like a waterfall... it's an '11 with 230k on it.

Back to today: I hopped in, went to turn to leave the driveway, and no power steering. We'd been keeping the pump topped up but it was constantly whining due to losing so much fluid. Today it stopped whining altogether. We agreed it's time to move on since the car is worth maybe 1000 to the right person. I have no interest in replacing that rack, and a shop quoted us 1200-1800 to replace it.

Time for new car shopping! she's looking for a smaller awd crossover, and currently she's looking at the new trailblazer. We tried finding some rav4's, and they're a bit pricey... optioned out the way she wants it's about 33k. The trailblazer is about 28k. The blazer was 31k, and we've looked at the equinox/acadia/Buick's/Ferds/ and Mazda was similarly priced to the rav4. Shopping for new cars is such a pain!

Agreed. I set up a ridiculous PowerBI file when we were looking for my wife's new vehicle. There was just too much juggling of options, prices, gas mileage, etc for me to keep them all straight.

The Rav4 might be more up front but it's almost assuredly going to keep its value better than the domestics.

I’ve been involved in buying one new car my whole life, our suburban. I hated the dealing with the dealer. It’s like a chess match and your gonna lose no matter what :frusty:

That would bee different (pun intended). The only collection of bees I ever came across were wasps and yellow jackets. They didn’t stop and it still hurts thinking about it. Been stung too many times to remember. I’m sure it’ll happen again, it’s not if, but when :annoyed:

The last 2 vehicles (Tacoma and Highlander) were both bought new and the transactions went as good as I've ever had. My wife pitted a couple of dealerships against each other to come up with the best price. That way when they came back to us, the haggling was already done.

The Tacoma was bought from a dealership 2 hours away. They drove it to my house and we signed the papers in my kitchen. :D
