Anyone have a accurate weight for their camper? TIA

This was my solution in a GFC. Boat fan as you mention with 3M Dual Lock to fasten. This fan moves a lot of air with minimal amp draw. GFC had a hole drilled with a grommet through the front panel for wire routing. Worked well but hole could have been larger.

 

That's funny! I found your post on the GFC board and ordered the same thing as a result. Thanks for the idea!

I've been in pretty heavy rain the last couple days and having problems with condensation too. And water leaching in via the seams and cord used to mount the tent fabric. My sleeping pad was half soaked on the bottom. Currently it's drying in the back seat with heater on. Water also seems to pour off the overhang into back seat when back door is open. None of this should be a problem once I get back to sunny weather, but kind of annoying right now. I'll be looking into one of those fans once I get home, thx

 

The sleeping bag issue is most likely from contacting the wedge with your feet while you're sleeping, as the moisture will accumulate on the colder surfaces (roof panel, aluminum etc). I would try to open all of your battens next time in the rain and see if that helps at all - air circulation will also keep the moisture at bay.

 

If I read it correctly he said his sleeping pad not sleeping bag.. whereby water was absorbed under it.

 

fair - i read it too fast. the pad is most likely getting wet from being in contact with the aluminum extrusion around the bottom edge of the sleeping area. In cold weather, the condensation will form on the coldest parts, and in this case it's the metal. the best ways to combat this would still be with proper airflow (windows open, fan etc)

I'm also looking into a waterproof mattress cover that might help avoid the saturation and just move me to wiping things down.

 

You don't have to explain condensation to me. I've done market research on tents for several manufactures during the 90s while hiking in the mountains in all types of climates.

From 25 years of backpacking in the mountains and in cold weather, typically condensation comes from you, while breathing and exhaling. Having ventilation helps minimize the moisture collecting on surfaces.

As I read his post, the water that is saturating the bottom of his sleeping pad is coming in from the leaching in the seams and cord used to mount the tent fabric, not condensation.

He reported heavy rain not sub freezing temperatures. He describes a classic issue whereby water is entering when raining due to leaks in the structure and soaking the bottom surfaces or what is on the floor of the tent.

 

I'm not sure I agree in his scenario, but of course photos would help anyone make this point further. I will say his experience mirrors mine from my cold camping this weekend, so maybe it's simply coincidental. Condensation can also form during rain events too, as you mentioned.

 

What are you talking about? I never said condensation came form during rain events.

I presumed you've experienced condensation from rain during your 25yr of experience and market research, as it's rather common especially in the PNW. Apologies for maybe giving you too much credit.

Ultimately if there's an issue with the construction of the product it would be helpful for all of us to see why. Beyond that it's a few actual owners of the product comparing experiences for the insight of others, while making some assumptions.

 

I was worried about the tent in rainy and frozen conditions.
For the water leeching in, you can apply AquaSeal / SeamGrip to the inside to seal the holes in the material/threading from allowing water inside.

For condensation, that’s a topic that plagues all of us without high BTU heaters and deserves its entire sub forum.

 

Condensation is a fact of life, just gotta deal with it.

Water leaking through extrusion joints and keder rail would be a major bummer.
