Yessir. Upgraded both trucks this year. Wife and I have been saving up and waiting for the old ones to finally die... and waiting... and waiting... haha

Need space for her family visiting and our baby nephew, growing family, etc.

Got em both for about 5 grand each.

Wooooooooooow. Not sure how i missed that. So you still have all four?

What I want in a 4th gen will be hard to find.
    06-09
Sport model (preferably without a sunroof)
    4.0
    Red with tan interior
    Sub 150k miles
    No rust

We wanted an 06-09 4.0 SR5 and prefer no sunroof. Ended up with a 2UZ SR5 with a sunroof. 152k miles. I dig the old man-tan haha but like the white, too.

What does the Sport have that the SR5 doesn't? Just curious.

I can tell you we wanted the 4.0 for the mileage/range and aren't happy with the mpgs of this one. But what we are happy with is how well it drives, my goodness. I every so gently laid my foot down to pass a semi while we were going 70 behind it in an 80... within a second I glanced down and realized we were well over 90 without even noticing haha. Pulls hard with that all-time AWD, too. Wife is loving it! haha

Not bad, i personally wouldn't want the 4.7; had an 04 4.0 and loved it. Wish it hadnt rotted up :pout:

    Rear locker and/or center locker

i absolutely will not own a full time 4wd toyota :anonymous: just not a fan, and with the v8, man that mileage has to hurt :(

Averaging 15 so far... not that our 3rd Gen gets much better in the winter.

We shall see when Spring/Summer road trips abound.

Really wanted the choice of 2WD, but for 5k I’ll eat the difference of 2-3 mpg less.

Would take years for it to equal the 5-8k difference of the 4.0s in our area, not to mention this had very little rusty which is imposible to find in South Dakota haha.

We’re hoping to head NW this Spring and see WY, MT, ID, etc. Maybe see you out there!

Completely understandable! The 04 took the boot in 2012 with 49k miles and fetched $15k on trade in! 8 years, multiple trips, best suv mileage ever, zero issues, and it netted almost half the cost of its replacement? I knew it was a mistake to get rid of

Man, I haven’t been west of OH since 2012! Its been waaaaay too long. But i’m about to start a new job (hopefully) and its a 24 month program, so traveling probably wont happen much :(

We did enjoy taking advantage of covid to travel last summer tho

Hell yeah dude! And do not forget, that it would be cool to click some shutters together

Alec still has hers and we talk about it all the time. She’s had it since 2018, got it brand new and still only has 126 miles on it :pout:

She just cant get the hang of it and its becoming a liability now :anonymous:

So, i’m thinking we’re at that age where we need to kind of really put our heads together and work for a few years, it might not be a bad idea to pull the tags, reg, and ins off of it, and prep it for serious storage. Or sell it, but i’m a no good blankity blank if I say that out loud

Then, later on, when we can get a scratch of land of our own, i’ll get a little ttr125 or 230 that she can crash over and over and over again in the grass and dirt until she either gives up or gets the hang of it!

Bro, it was awesome doing "traveling work" back in the day but being based in SD! Can charge big-city rates per location, but pay small state taxes (none) :D

    No doubt!

The taxes here are literally disgusting. Single, filing none. Might as well kiss 30-32% goodbye.

I will not make a career here, that is for sure dude.

We're looking to move West a bit, but it's hard to balance good taxes and laws with bearable weather!

I'd live in Wyoming if it wasn't worse than here weather-wise. Hence the desire to check out ID and surrounding states.

Who knows. . . we may be stuck with here as home base forever . . . ha.

So anyway, back to your build thread or whatever! haha my bad!

Just did my oil change 300 miles early because i thought i was 700 miles over. Glad it was early and not over.

5w30 conventional valvoline is getting impossible to find.

Also got all my parts except radiator hoses, still have to order those.

also found out where my coolant is going. My driver’s side front freeze plug is rotted and has a small seep of coolant coming from it. Guess i’ll be fixing that soon.
