Compared to my old Grand Cherokee, this thing sips gas (Tacoma is as low as it is because a lot of those miles are in 4wd.)

Winter Fuel mix sucks... mine would drop to around 15mpg in winter.. and also due to the more dense colder air... more fuel is required to leep the fuel air ratio correct. the winter mix has more detergents, and thinners so the gas doesnt freeze up in extremely cold weather. If you fill up with good premium fuel you will see a little jump in MPG.. I typically get about 16-18mpg in winter.. on warmer days mid 30s I can get around 20mpg going 55-60mph... past 75mph my MPG tanks to around 17mpg (according to the computer).. its been fairly accurate.. within 1 or 2 mpg when I have tracked it.

For whats its worth, i towed my aluma 5x10 utility trailer with my sled yesterday about 160 mile round trip. Didn't even need the ECT mode...it towed perfect in S5 all the way. 19.8 mpg. Plenty enough power. This was way better that the tundra i had that would only get around 15.5 at best, and that was with no trailer, just the snowmobile in the bed. I couldn't be happier with this taco.

On my last road trip, Virginia To NY and back, I tested MPG with Octane ratings. 93 octane I was getting 17/18 MPG. On 87 I was getting 21. Today on my commute to work, average 65 mph, I was sitting at 24mpg. 2016 TRD Off Road, completely stock.

I had to throw mine in 4wd during the Winter Storms (lucky me, I hardly used the 4WD in my F-150 but have had two snowstorms in Texas this year alone!). I think I averaged around 12-13 MPG in 4X4 driving around 35-40 MPH.

Usually I get around 19-20 MPG, but this number drops dramatically if I warm my car up or idle for extended periods of time (which I always do since I have PTSD of blowing up the turbo on my last car). Cruising usually = good mpg but lots of starts and stops at lights seems to knock that number down quite a bit.

Yeah, i tried a few tankfuls of E93, it sucked more gas, and made less power. 87 is the ticket, even with a trailer. Found using Ect pulling my utility trailer with my sled probably wasn't more than 1100 lbs, only wasted gas. It should of upshifted a lot sooner. Must better with it off, and using S5 only. Imo, toyota has these 2020 v6 auto's perfectly tuned.

    ^^. This.

I was averaging between 20 and 21 miles to the gallon. Then winter came in I am now averaging between 18 and 19 +/- miles per gallon. That’s pretty much a combined highway city average.
Definitely a winter fuel mix difference.

Same here, was averaging over 23 in the hot summer months. Now winter about 20...mix of city/highway.

Yep I lose about 3mpg with the winter fuel. I lost another 2 mpg with all the snow we had in Ohio since the beginning of February.
The snow and especially the salt slush all over the road will kill your milage.

Haha! My wife actually named it the beast when we were still dating and the name stuck.

19.5 is great mpgs! If you drive these trucks within 5-10mph of the speed limits, they can get great mileage.

There is an option to share your fuelly stats in the settings I believe. I’m pretty sure you can only do it from a computer though. You just copy and paste the link provided there. I’ll have a look later when I get home.

Strange, it should get a bit better mpgs if going 65-70, especially with an AT. Maybe your truck is still pretty new and needs to be broken in some more. Do you idle a lot?

I got 20.5 on my recent trip about 80% highway. MT runs higher RPMs on the hwy. I have no cap but I do have heavier AT tires. I flashed my ECU recently and I’m getting same mpgs as I did in the summer, so I’m sure I’ll see an improvement in a couple of months. Loving the new tune by the way, I just want to keep driving, even after 3-4 hours, haha!

I've got a 2020 Tacoma TRD Pro. I was getting 18 to 20 mpg according to the readouts. I put 31.7 nitto's on the stock 16 wheels. It got a little worse but seemed to always be 16 to 19. Then about three months ago it started bouncing around 11 and 9 and I thought something was wrong with the computer. Took to dealer, they couldn't find anything and said its because my tires. So I've manually calculated three tanks now and I'm averaging about 11.9 mpg. Which is horrible! They can't tell me anything but yeah thats bad alright. Any thoughts?

I never rely on / trust a vehicles computer to tell me what MPG the vehicle gets. It can't judge how much fuel has been burned, so it is only a best guess. I hand calculated for years, and have been using the smart phone app 'Fuelly' for a few years now. See my .sig below for my Tacoma's numbers.

The very best my truck has ever gotten is around 19.5 MPG, and only when going long distances at a steady/constant speed for like 200+ miles at a time (eg: highway driving for long distances). And this is empty, not hauling or towing anything. Around town, I get maybe 16.0 MPG if I am really lucky.

2017 Off Road, 4WD, manual trans, bone stock except for 32" tires (OEM were 30").

    I can get 11.4 towing a 4,700lb travel trailer!
11.9 has to be more than just tires…

I would try the KD Max Pro tune discussed in this forum. It can't hurt and the gas savings should help pay for it. That is terrible and dealers should help but do not.
