2011 DCSB Auto. Last week driving through snow truck threw a P2757. No symptoms. Smooth shifting. I cleared the code and did a drain a fill on the AT fluid. Drove several hundred miles with no issue. This morning I leave for work in the ice storm. I throw a code halfway here. No symptoms but I'm pretty sure its the same code. Can this be temperature related?

    It’s just a coincidence.

Everything I can find on Tacomaworld relates to shudder or some other transmission symptom. I'm guessing I'll have to take this to a mechanic.

When you did a D&F did you put it in temp check mode and check if it was at the proper level.

yeah but I was a little iffy on the definition of trickle. I got 2.5 quarts out, put 3 in, got it to temp and half a quart came gushing out. It got to what I consider a trickle, like a bad leaky faucet and I closed it.

Is there a next step I can take trying to diagnose this? I can't find a leak anywhere. The transmission fluid looked awful and is probably 170k old.

You should really take it to a pro. Hopefully you have a dedicated transmission shop near you. With that many miles, the pan should be dropped, solenoids and valve body looked at and tested, screen cleaned / replaced, new fluid ect. The ole phrase......Pay me now..or pay me later, comes to mind.

If the Trans fluid is full and correct, the the next steps aren’t exactly something you want to jump into with out the proper knowledge of how a transmission works. And how to repair them.
What information I have found on that code relates to the following:

    • Shift solenoid valve SLU remains open or closed
    • Valve body is blocked
    • Shift solenoid valve SLU
    • Torque converter clutch
    • Automatic transmission (clutch, brake or gear, etc.)
    • Line pressure is too low

I myself don’t know anything past checking the fluid level.
So, I’d need to have a professional look at it.

So I dropped my truck off at the dealership. Told them about the code and that I had no symptoms. 140$ later they call and tell me that I most likely have a bad Shift Solenoid. Naturally I asked if they could replace it. They told me they are not allowed to do anything but replace the transmission which they quoted me a price on. I asked how they diagnosed it if they aren't allowed to open a transmission they said they used the code reader. I'm completely shattered. I guess I'm gonna be replacing a solenoid on my own. Any clue how difficult this is?

Seek out a shop that specializes in TRANSMISSIONS ONLY.

Get the diagnosis, quote, then decide.

An automatic transmission is one of the most complex pieces of kit on the truck.

IMHO, you likely do have a stuck valve or bad solenoid, especially at 170 kmiles and poor fluid condition.

See post 8, you got the stealership treatment. Take it to a dedicated transmission shop. $140 down the drain.
